The Health Hound Reviews Bio Trust Low Carb Protein Powder

Henry’s rating 5 out of 5

You already know how excited I am about a new supplement company with a name you can literally trust – as in Bio Trust. The recently launched company has been founded by my dear friends and fellow health advocates, Josh Bezoni and Joel Marion. Regular readers of the Hound know that these are two guys that I really respect, but that doesn’t mean I am going to give them a pass when it come to reviewing their products!

Josh and Joel were good enough to provide The Hound with samples of some of their new and exciting line, and so far all the supplements I have tried live up to what I would expect from these two.

If you are into diet, health, and supplementation, then certainly Protein Powders are nothing new to you. But, Josh and Joel have taken a whole new approach to Protein Powders with their Bio Trust Low Carb Powder. As fitness guru’s and supplement users themselves, long before founding Bio Trust, the boys used a bunch of protein powders, and found most of them lacking — as in lacking quality protein and lacking taste. More important than what they found lacking in those other powders, was what they found them loaded with – such as extra sugars and artificial sweeteners, other processed carbs, proteins sourced from cows treated with potentially dangerous hormones – and worse!

So when it came to creating their own Protein Mix – Bio Trust Low Carb – it was out with the bad and in with the good! That means you won’t find any artificial colors, flavors, and most importantly artificial sweeteners in Bio Trust Low Carb. Instead, it is lightly sweetened with stevia extract and a naturally sweet fiber.

Bio Trust Low Carb tastes great, and packs 4 grams of high quality fiber per serving with only 1 gram of sugar per 24 grams of protein! Bio Trust Low Carb is also sourced from cows not treated with the dangerous growth hormone rBGH, and rBST. I don’t know about you, but The Hound likes to go organic, and avoid putting synthetic, unnatural hormones into my body whenever possible.

How to Use Bio Trust Low Carb

As with all protein powders, Bio Trust Low Carb is designed to create a tasty shake to drink. Mix two scoops of the powder with 8oz of water or milk, shake or blend to your desired consistency.

Who Should Use It?

The protein that is found in Bio Trust Low Carb, comes from whey. You know, “Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet, eating her curds and whey…” I have no idea what a “tuffet” is, but I can tell you that whey, is way cool! Whey is a by-product of cheese that is obtained from cow’s milk. As a form of protein, whey is what is known as “complete” meaning that it contains all amino acids that are essential for the body. Complete proteins are required to be consumed as part of any daily diet. Essential amino acids form the building blocks for healthy body tissues, muscles, nails and skin. It has been found that the ideal combination of amino acids present in whey protein helps to enhance athletic performance, fight fatigue, and promote lean muscle mass. That is why protein powders are favorites of body builders, but you do not have to be a gym rat to benefit from whey protein. Whey protein is an excellent energy booster, helping to improve peak performance for any body at any age. Protein Powders, and especially a low calorie, low carb one such as Bio Trust Low Carb are ideal for weight loss and dieting.

While a long time favorite of athlete’s post workouts, protein shakes are a great way for anybody to make sure they are getting their daily requirement of protein, when used as part of a balanced, nutrient-rich diet.

There is also evidence that protein supplementation can fight sickness and otherwise improve overall health. A study of 130 U.S. Marines looked at intense exercisers who used high protein supplements. Those in the study reported fewer infections, less heat exhaustion, and less muscle soreness

The Good

Bio Trust Low Carb is 100% all natural. There are no artificial colors or flavors, added sugars, or proteins sourced from cows pumped up with synthetic hormones.

 The Bad

Bio Trust Low Carb does contain Milk and Soy products – those with known milk and soy allergies should consult their health professional before using Bio Trust Low Carb.

 The Bottom Line

Most health and fitness professionals agree that there is major benefit to protein supplementation. The only controversy is which one to use – ask a dozen different body builders and you may get a dozen different answers. But the Hound knows the key is in the ingredients, and for its lack of artificial ingredients or sweeteners, and use of unadulterated proteins from non-hormone injected cows, I put my paws together in a round of applause for Bio Trust Low Carb.
