The Contour – Do Nothing and Achieve Six-Pack Abs… Really? Maybe…

The Contour… ah! The latest and greatest in our never-ending quest for the “do-nothing-and-still-achieve-a-killer-body” gadget!

But wait! Is it for real? It uses electronic muscle stimulation (EMS) similar to the type physical therapists use to strengthen muscles, tendons and ligaments that were injured. This stimulation supposedly tones abdominal muscles producing a flatter stomach.

Let’s see… physical therapists are a reputable, educated bunch. The science sounds good. And personally, I’m not too fond of crunches (is anyone?).

So… why does my fur bristle when I watch the ads?

Pros

Cons (Who Will It Help, for real?)

EMS has been studied and proven to tighten, firm and tone muscle. Here’s what the FDA says: While an EMS device may be able to temporarily strengthen, tone or firm a muscle, no EMS devices have been cleared at this time for weight loss, girth reduction, or for obtaining “rock hard” abs.
It might actually work for those folks who don’t have excess belly fat. It won’t work for everyone. Spot training does NOT get rid of excessive fat. Keep reading…
Try before you buy (always nice) Look out baby! Trial offer is $14.95 for 30 days… only, you don’t get the gadget right away (eating up your trial). And guess how much this puppy costs you if you don’t cancel? $200! Yikes! That’s 8 months at your standard 24-hour gym!

Crap! Guess You’ll Have to Do Those Crunches! But wait! I might have some good news for you after all…

IF you have very little belly fat and an extra $200 bucks, then be my guest and order The Contour. I’m guessing that’s a small percentage of folks who were intrigued by the commercials.

For most, it’s more about how to whittle their middle and THEN achieve six-pack abs. Six-pack, flat abs take more than a gadget. AND, it takes more than crunches. In fact, crunches aren’t even a great way to achieve six-pack abs (told you I had good news!).

There’s a Cheaper (FREE) Solution to Flat Abs…

Calorie deficit and burning fat are the only real ways to achieve flat abs. You should know that great abs begin with diet and living an active lifestyle. But how do you actually do that?

What you really need to lose your belly fat is to understand the secrets behind a fat-burning diet. There are foods that are keeping you fat and foods that can boost your weight loss efforts and help you achieve that flat belly you want.

“Henry,

Great download! I am a real skeptic – especially with downloads, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by your write-up. It makes sense! A friend recommended Sensa and after reading your site, I am (once again) too skeptical to try.”

Thanks again,
Beth

  1. I am proof that the contour belt works on people with belly fat. I had a large belly until i used the belt, now i’ve lost two pants sizes and have a little bit more self esteem back, I have a long way to go, and of course, like you said, you have to have a healthy life style, but the contour belt was an excellent starting point for me and I’m glad I payed the money for it!!

  2. I have used the contour on a daily basis for 11 months. It has not reduced my waist line at all. I am very disappointed with this product.

  3. How well might this work for…I guesse a skinny guy like me, I way maybe 138-145 pounds, I was hoping to use it for building up my stumach. My waist is from 30 to 32/34. So I need to build up something preferably my stomach.

  4. As far as building muscle, such as the ads on TV claim, this is not backed up by research. The level of electrical stimulation necessary to build up the abdominal muscles to what you see on TV would be extremely high, and thus very painful.

Many companies that sell these belts also claim that the belts help burn fat. In reality, the small muscle contractions produced by these belts burn about as many calories as the effort required to take the belt out of the box and put the batteries in.

If you read the fine print in these ads, you will also notice that the instructions for use also include a suggested exercise and nutrition plan. This, without a doubt, would be the true source of the results people get from this equipment.

  5. I have a Contour Ab and Back set and it feels really good. I don’t use it as much as I should, but when I do I can really feel it working. I also do crunches and live an active lifestyle. I’m 4’11” and weigh 120 lbs, so I’m not sure how much credit I can give to this product, but my abs are more defined than before I used it when I was still living a healthy lifestyle prior to having the Contour belt. I would recommend it for moms trying to lose their baby belly.

  6. i have some love handles i would love to get rid of! i have a really tiny belly but i have just a little bit of love handles that i have to hide under spandex or one of those tanks that make you look thin. that usually works when i wanna wear something nice but i dont wanna wear that stuff all the time bcuz it gets uncomfortable so do you think that contour ab belt would work to take off my love handles??

  7. Hey Henry. I just ran across you blog and I love the idea of informing folks about health scams. I read your blog before I ordered my Contour and it helped me ask the right questions but didn’t deter me from ordering. The informercial & website say nothing about being a weight loss product. I asked telemarketer and she said it was cleared by the FDA for toning and tightening not weight loss. The trial starts when you receive the product, not when you order it. You can easily email their customer service department for any concerns you might have in advance of buying it… I did! I hate sit ups, crunches and ab routines. I’ve been using it faithfully for 2 months and it works dude. Healthy diet and exercise… of course! If you implying the Contour is a scam, you couldn’t be further from the truth.

  8. I have heard of this belt and I am curious as to whether this would be a good purchase to help me flatten my stomach? I have two children and both were c-section, so I have been having a lot of trouble trying to loose any of the wieght I put on with them. What can I do?

  9. hello guys the peapul I didnt know ther are the peaple who think about our health. thnx for your info about the contour. that I just ordard
