Affordable to purchase: Online program is $5 per week and the book is less than $30 new (you can even get it for nothing at the library) You will be spending more at the market, but healthy, fresh food usually does cost more.
Not just for you. Your family can eat the same things and benefit as well (past phase 1) Will they? You may be tossing a lot of good, fresh food if they don’t.

I have to give The South Beach Diet a high five for its healthy cuisine meant to help you lose weight and find better heart health (it was originally developed for Dr. Agatston’s heart patients).

On the other paw, you might not make it past Phase 1, which completely eliminates carbs, save for the vegetables. Not a lot of people can do this without cravings and eventually, cheating. You may even find yourself in a rotten mood if you’re a sugar junky (and most Americans are!).

If you can’t make it through Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet, you probably won’t try Phase 2 or make it to Phase 3.

    I have been checking out your site. It appears that you are sincere in ypur motivations (wasn’t sure till I got your “free report” and found that it was just that and not a ploy to sell me something – good for you!)

    I would like to comment on SBD. I am a holistic healer and a long time user of the SBD. For your readers who are not familiar, I’d say your assessment is pretty fair. The 1st 2 weeks can be tough but well worth it. You will be rewarded with not only freedom from cravings but most everyone sees a dramatic, and motivationg weightloss!

    However, I’d also like to point out that it is extremely simular to your weightloss suggestions! There are a few notable differences: I feel that SBD relies to heavily on artificial sweeteners and I agree that they are not good for you in many ways. However this is how many people get thru those first weeks and the cravings, so it is a means to an end. Also, it could appear to the inexperienced that your system allows for carbs and SBD does not. That is a fallacy. SBD only eliminates carbs the 1st 2 weeks, limits them to 1 meal a day during phase 2 (just like your “post workout meal”, and allows for them regularly (in moderation) during the maintenance stage (phase 3).

    So how is your system any easier? If fact, you recommend eliminating all forms of sugar AND artificial sweeteners (I don’t disagree with this suggestion). My only complaint is that you seem to imply that SBD is harder than your system. Which seems a bit unfair & self serving.

    Still I appreciate the work you are doing and your intent. Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts!

  2. I have to admit that I have not looked over your diet. My husband and I have been on SBD for about 3 weeks now and doing very well. We had been dieting a week prior to our doctor recommending the SBD so we had pretty much already purged our systems of the carbs and sugars. Therefore we did not find Phase 1 to be too hard. We are now in Phase 2 and both are losing weight. My husband suffers from heart disease and diabetic. He had a heart attack at age 41 and we have since struggled with eating a healthy diet and weight. I thought I had been careful about the trans and saturated fats we ate but did not understand the connection between how carbs affect that as well. The SBD book explains that in detail and in a way I finally got. We hope that is will be a PLAN we can follow from now on and that this is not just a diet. I am very satisfied with the SBD thus far.

    • Since I really like vegetables, I don’t have any trouble with SBD phase 1. My problem is that I’m beginning my 5th week on phase 1 and haven’t lost any weight since the second week (I lost 7 lbs the first 2 weeks). I have not cheated and wonder if being just past menopause has affected my metabolism or body chemistry enough that the very low carb direction just won’t work. If anyone has any ideas on this, I would really appreciate your input!!

    • I have to agree ladies. I love the SBD, because it is the ONLY “diet” that works for me. I am a sugar JUNKIE! This first phase sucks!, buts the end result is worth it. Have fell off the wagon in the last few years and have started back on Phase 1 last week…this is not a “diet” but a redirection of your eating habits to get you back on eating what your body needs, instead of piggin out and having what your want..which is ok in moderation. I need to relearn that!
