Will You Really Lose Weight if you Switch to the Skinny Switch?

Henry‘s Rating: 1.0 / 5.0

The infomercials for the Skinny Switch Diet look convincing. The ‘guru’ behind the diet is Rob Nevins. He says you can eat a planned diet for two days, and on the third day have a treat, then repeat this cycle…and lose weight. His infomercial says no exercise is necessary.

However, after hearing from my dedicated followers, I decided to put my nose to the ground to find out if what they say is true. The results may make you hold onto your $154.

Pros – It is Better Than Nothing…

Cons – Why You Should Save Your $154

The Skinny Switch Diet is good for someone who is extremely overweight and/or someone who has very poor eating habits. This diet will design meal plans for you and offer healthy recipes to help you get started. You will hopefully be eating fewer calories on this plan. There is an online support center for you while you are paying for the plan.
The meals are healthy if you choose the right foods in your introductory checklist. The website encourages thirty minutes of activity several times a day.
The ‘treat’ day will work as a ‘cheat’ day to a lot of folks and may throw many off the diet. Folks hear ‘treat’ and decide to treat themselves to what they have been missing. The recipes provided are sometimes very involved and take a lot of time to prepare and cook. Those who don’t like to cook, or feel they just ‘can’t’, will lose out here and may just throw in the towel. The diet plan is expensive, $154 for six months. You could just go shopping for healthy foods with this money, and search for free, or lower cost healthy diet plans online. You can choose not to eat healthy foods. Just being skinny does not mean you are healthy.

The infomercials lead you to believe you do not have to exercise, only change your eating habits.

What does your $154 really get you?

When you enroll, you pick out what foods you like and you don’t like. Then weekly meal plans are designed for you, complete with shopping lists and recipes. The downside is that you can choose not to eat vegetables. Any diet that allows you to forgo vegetables is not a healthy one. Anybody can consume fewer calories and lose weight, but that does not mean you are healthier. Skinny people can have high cholesterol or blood pressure if they eat the wrong foods.

The plan is basically a two day low calorie fiesta, followed by one day where you can “cheat”. The idea is that this prevents your metabolism from slowing down. However, the commercials make you think you can ‘treat’ yourself all day, but in actuality you are just replacing a meal or snack with one you wouldn’t normally be eating on the plan.

What about those claims?

They say you will feed your muscles and starve the fat. I know I’m just a dog folks, but that statement seemed very fishy to me, so I did a little digging. You can’t ‘feed’ one portion of your body and starve another. What you can do is increase your muscle size by strength training to increase your metabolism, or burn off more fat through exercise.

So, what can you do to lose weight healthfully?

It is essential that you do eat healthy foods, and you don’t need gimmicks for this. Resistance training and cardio is also something that you absolutely need to integrate into your life. The bottom line, as this hound sees it, is that you can save your $154 and shop healthier-and buy a cookbook that provides recipes for healthy foods.

There is a great alternative to the Skinny Switch that my pack can really get behind. Unlike Skinny Switch, it does not exaggerate the benefits or promote unhealthy eating. It’s a 100% free report I’ve put together that teaches you several proven methods to lose weight. In the Health Hound’s opinion, this is at least worth a look!

Great download! I am a real skeptic – especially with downloads, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by your write-up. It makes sense! A friend recommended Sensa and after reading your site, I am (once again) too skeptical to try.”

Thanks again,

  1. Thank you very much for having this web site. Like many other people, my New Year’s Resolution is to lose weight; however, it’s also to do it in a smart, healthy, and cost effective way. I’ve spent way too much $$$ in the past on several diets that are so worthless that I was angry with myself for spending the money with nothing to show for it. So, thank you! You have made it much easier for me to stick to my top 2 resolutions: lose weight and spend money wisely (mainly save!.)

  2. I did not do the Skinny Switch as seen on TV. I went to his office – paid a lot more – but you get 4-5 months with him and visit with him or his assistant once every 2-3 weeks. It was worth every penny I spent. In the first 3 months I lost about 20 pounds and 12-15 inches all over my body. The good thing is if you “fall off” you can get right back on and follow it. I don’t know if the Skinny Switch is the same – sounds the same – but in any case I’m all for it!!!!!

    • Rob Nevens used to have centers in my area a few years back. I went to his center in my area and the plan worked great. His way of losing fat is called pyramiding. I lost lots of weight, inches and body fat quickly. Back then, however, there were NO cheat meals or days at all so it was very strict. Though I never dealt with Rob personally, only one of his employees, he is from my area and he is well known and even some of the insurance companies offered his plan. As someone else commented, I don’t know if this is exactly the same plan that I was on, its does seem similar though it does not sound as strict – so thats a good thing.
