Psyllium husk is an excellent source of fiber and is often included in colon cleansers. This is a good thing because it is a great way to clean out a colon suffering from years of poor diet and digestion issues. HOWEVER, when psyllium husk is used in a diet pill, it will promote quick weight loss via excessive visits to the bathroom. Plain and simple. In a diet formula, it is being used as a laxative, which promotes quick weight loss in the wrong way. There is a chance that a high enough amount of psyllium husks will make you feel full so you’ll be less likely to eat, but most diet pills include this in a proprietary blend and there just isn’t enough to make much of a difference. So, use it to help relieve constipation or as a part of a cleansing routine every month or two, but not for weight loss.
Amount needed: As a colon cleanser or to relieve constipation, ½ – 2 teaspoons mixed in water or follow package directions.
