Kava Kava Root

This is a pretty potent herb, so make sure you discuss this with your doctor especially if you are already being treated with meds for depression, anxiety, pain or insomnia. Do not take kava kava with alcohol or if you consume alcohol on a regular basis. All that aside, if you’re looking for a natural calming herb, this is a pretty good one. It has a physical and mental calming effect on the body. It’s also a diuretic, so it might be beneficial for PMS (mood plus water weight). It can ease pain and help soothe anxiety. Just be sure you follow the previous advice. Also, if you have any liver problems, avoid kava kava.
Amount needed: 70 mg 3 times a day was proven to be safe in a 6 month study on the potential side effects of kava.
