When I heard that a former part-time musician was selling a fat loss course that was actually GOOD… I was skeptical.
A lot of courses I’ve reviewed are written by doctors or certified trainers. But this guy was a former part-time musician… and HE has the information to help people lose weight?
Something didn’t sound right. Actually… something sounded about as trustworthy as an anger-management course ran by a pit-bull.
Until I remembered how anyone can become an expert on just about anything these days… given enough motivation and enough research.
Just think about it.
If you had spent years of trial and error and bought countless weight-loss courses (as Rob has)… wouldn’t YOU be a weight-loss expert?
Not only that… but the only thing that really matters is the program itself. Is it based on sound science? Does it have testimonials? Is the company trust-worthy?
It doesn’t matter if you’re a PhD or high-school dropout… through trial and error anyone can discover a better, quicker way of losing weight.
So I decided to look into it and report back to my pack. Here are my findings:
Fat Burning Furnace – The overview
Fat Burning Furnace was created by Rob Poulos. Rob is a former musician who (after being overweight his entire life) discovered a better way of losing fat quickly. Over the years he’s helped hundreds of people to lose weight ― even his wife Kalen has used his system with great success.
So… what IS this furnace you keep hearing about?
The basic philosophy behind Fat Burning Furnace is this: You should eat certain foods that decrease fat gain… while avoiding foods that increase fat gain. Doing this boosts your natural metabolism… which means it increases the amount of fat you burn WHILE you watch TV, sleep… or while you read the best hound-authored blog on the planet.
Sounds good to me.
Also recommended is the avoidance of long and boring cardio workouts… which won’t burn that many calories anyway. Instead, Rob recommends the use of exercises that workout your entire body with moderate intensity. (In other words… exercises that burn fat without making you collapse from exhaustion). These workouts make your body burn calories for up to 24 hours… so you only need to do them every 2-3 days. Also, a lot of these workouts can be done without any weight equipment ― so you can do them anywhere at any time.
So essentially this course is all about getting your metabolism up using both nutrition and exercise.
What I found during my investigation…
So I went over to my favorite fact-checking site… Webmd.com. And I did some investigating.
From what I found… “natural metabolism” is another phrase for “resting metabolic rate.” Resting metabolic rate means how many calories your body burns while you do nothing.
Even the name of the course… “Fat Burning Furnace”… is another way of describing resting metabolic rate.
So I did a search on WebMD for “resting metabolic rate” and found an article called “Increase Your Metabolism — And Start Losing Fat.” In this article, John Berardi, PhD, CSCS (president of Precision Nutrition, and author of The Metabolism Advantage) says that certain foods DO increase your metabolism. He even mentions chicken directly… which is one of the foods in the Fat Burning Furnace nutrition guide.
Simple enough. But does it pass my investigation?
In the very same article I found this quote:
“One such time is during exercise, but it’s difficult to exercise all the time, especially if you’re stuck at a desk all day. Luckily, your body requires extra energy at other times, too, such as during the first hour or two after intense exercise like interval training and weight lifting. This is called the “afterburn” effect, Berardi says, and it can last for up to 24 hours. Strength training with heavier than usual weights uses up energy, too — in order to repair small (healthy) muscle tears.”
And simply being more muscular boosts your body’s energy needs. Each extra pound of muscle you carry can burn up to 50 additional calories just to maintain itself — and with no effort on your part.
This backs up the claim that when you workout… your body burns calories to repair your muscles. This repair process takes around 24 hours… during which your body will continuously burn calories.
More than that… your body uses MORE calories to maintain muscle tissue than to maintain fat cells. So… if you build more muscle… your resting metabolic rate increases substantially.
After looking into all of this – I definitely think this program is based on truth.
What’s included in each edition
When you get your copy of Fat Burning Furnace… you have a choice to make: Should you get the Deluxe, Ultimate or Ultimate with Blowtorch edition?
With the Deluxe edition you get the Fat Burning Furnace manual and 3 months of email coaching (via a newsletter). This is probably best for people who are on an extremely tight budget.
The Ultimate package has an additional 12 months of email coaching, a workout progress tracker, a body fat analyzer and a metabolic rate calculator. Probably the most cost-effective solution.
The Ultimate with Blowtorch upgrade has an extra 2 hours of video sessions (the Blowtorch workout routines) plus a 21 page manual. This edition is for those that want the quickest results.
Regardless of which edition you get… here are some pros and cons…
The pros & cons of Fat Burning Furnace
| Based on science according to my research.Access to the author if you need it.Long boring cardio isn’t required… and is even discouraged.
Routines for beginners, intermediate and advanced people.
You get a 60 money-back guarantee. (I’ve had reports from my pack that they DO abide by this)
|Not enough up-front education. (The video presentation about the program doesn’t give enough information about what the course is actually about). No videos of the core exercises… just pictures and explanations.|
I do recommend this course for anyone wanting to lose fat the right way. Based on science and created by an average joe… makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
And I ALSO highly suggest you watch the video presentation that Rob has put together about Fat Burning Furnace. He does a good job of “pumping” up your motivation.
Watch it all the way to the end too. Because when the presentation ends… you get to see around 20 before and after pics. (I don’t know WHY Rob makes you wait for the end to see the pics). Anyway, just check it out…
