Coix seed

Grown mainly in Southeast Asia, this grain that is similar to barley also has diuretic properties. It may be used in weight loss supplements for its ability to reduce fluids in the body and promote water weight loss. There are no known contraindications for moderate use of coix seed. It’s been used in its native land for thousands of years in cooking and medicine.

Studies: The only study I found was one on the use of a drug made from coix seed called Gemcitabine used for treating cancer in China.
