Could “Aspartame” be the SCARIEST sweetener yet?

I don’t know how old ya’ll are, but this hound’s been around long enough to remember TAB soda. It tasted nasty (IMO) and contained an artificial sweetener called saccharin. Years later, rat studies showed that saccharin may cause cancer. Is it still on the shelves? Yup. The little pink packets called Sweet-n-Low? However, there is a warning label on the packaging regarding the potential ill effects.

At least you have some warning with saccharin… NOW, we have reason to believe Aspartame, another artificial, chemical sweetener is potentially harmful. Not only that, but does this zero calorie sweetener used in diet products make you GAIN weight?

10,000 complaints, 92 symptoms and death?

Pros

Cons (death?)

Zero calorie alternative to sugar. We know sugar is addictive and causes us to gain weight. Sweet is sweet. It is the sweet flavor of sugar that causes our brains to release pleasure hormones. It’s a reward system because sugar provides energy and the body needs energy. (this doesn’t mean sugar is good, keep reading). Aspartame has zero calories… meaning no energy. This confuses the body and makes you crave more sweet… more sugar! A recent Purdue study furthered proved this… keep reading.
Does not promote tooth decay. Okay, I’ll give it that. But! Although tooth decay is a health issue, what about all the other problems with aspartame? Keep reading…
Aspartame was found to cause brain tumors in rodents… but even with this knowledge, it was approved by the FDA as being “generally recognized as being safe.” Big business, aspartame!
Various reports on the ill effects of aspartame: headaches, memory loss, seizures, vision loss, coma, and cancer.
It may worsen or mimic: fibromyalgia, MS, lupus, ADD, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, chronic fatigue, and depression.

The Diet Solution that Makes You GAIN weight…

That recent Purdue study? Test subjects in a Purdue research study, showed that those who consumed artificial sweeteners consumed THREE TIMES the calories compared to those who only consumed plain old sugar. So, even though aspartame is contained in hundreds of diet products such as diet soda and packets of sweeteners, it could be the reason behind your weight gain.

So, what does that mean? Should we drink regular soda and forget about the calories? Nada. Sugar may not be as bad as aspartame, but it’s still BAD for us. Sugar also makes us gain weight AND it’s addictive too. It can lead to insulin resistance and eventually diabetes which can and will lead to heart disease… Not good at all. So, what do we do?

Kickin’ the sugar habit for FREE and finally losing weight…

Listen, I know how it is to have a sweet tooth and with all the false marketing out there, it’s hard to tell if what you are consuming is really a diet product or healthy. Whether it’s high in sugar, high fructose corn syrup, sugar alcohols or artificial sweeteners like aspartame, the product label may still lead you to believe it’s okay. AND most of us are addicted to these high flavor, sweet foods that seem to be a staple in our pantries.

You have to stop the vicious cycle, and I think I can help you find healthy sweeteners. That’s why I’ve put together a 100% FREE weight loss report to help you kick the sugar habit and lose weight… it also tells you about other foods that are keeping you fat and foods that can boost your weight loss efforts. I’m offering you a 100% free report that teaches you several proven methods to lose weight. Check it out if you need some weight loss advice and you like free stuff!

"Henry,

Great download! I am a real skeptic – especially with downloads, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by your write-up. It makes sense! A friend recommended Sensa and after reading your site, I am (once again) too skeptical to try."

Thanks again,
Beth

  1. Thank you for all of your good work, I am going forward to try to influence an entire class of college students tomorrow, and will be citing your information, and letting them know that such a great site exists too. Pity that many just don’t “feel” like giving it up, or seem to understand fully the implications of a) the health consequences, and b) the food chain becoming industrialized and commercialized-maybe its the aspartames effects. We are being sold such a bill of goods, and it is getting worse. People think the FDA is on top of this type of issue, that they are “watching out for the people”; sad. Unfortunately, head in the sand won’t work here, I advocate people coming together, flooding congresswith correspondence on an appointed specific day, and letting them know that this country demands better.

  2. Wow, where to start with this lovely drug. Yes, I use the word “drug”. Long story short, I have been a professional dieter my whole life; and using anything with real sugar was always forbidden. So, I believed the FDA, blindly; like everyone else in America, and believed that aspartame was the so called second coming of Christ for a sugar substitute. Everything I ate had aspartame in it.
For three years, I did nothing but throw up and gain weight. I have to be the only person I know of that gained weight at Weight Watchers while following the program completely correctly.
I ended up going to a naturopath who diagnosed me with aspartame poisoning. Within two weeks, she has me detoxed from it.
Please avoid this stuff. The FDA should be held to task for allowing this stuff to still be on the market. On Feb 17, 2010 (after all the backlash from consumers) Aspartame was now being re marketed under the name, “AminoSweet”.
I am living proof that this stuff can and will mess you up. I thank the stars above every day for my nautropath. Conventional doctors tried to say I was suffering from depression, and wanted to put me on anti-depressants, (Yep, another drug) before the even asked what my diet was.
Simply put, everything within moderation. Sugar is not the enemy. It just must be done in moderation.
Just thought you would like to hear a story of someone who survived aspartame poisoning.

    • Thank you for your story. I too have experienced something as you have. I went to a regular doc who didn’t know what to do. to make a long story short I took myself off aspartame and feel alot better. I am going to check and find a naturopath. I don’t know if just qiutting aspartame is enough to rid my system of it or if I too should be detoxed. Thanks again for your story.

  3. thank god , I finally found out about this. I have been consuming Sweet and Low like it was manna from heaven. What the hell is the FDA for.
    thanks to all of you.

  4. I’ve fought weight problems all my life. Have a history of unstable mental health (so eating was my comfort food.) Have been on every diet available looking for THE

  5. Wow, this site is amazing and learned so much. Glad I found this site, almost brought sensa today and decided to try the free offer, couldn’t find. After keying in sensa to locate the product, found this site and whoa!

  6. Aspartame is a neurotoxin. About 3.5 years ago I was dieting, heavy on the Slim Fast & eating tons of lite yogurt filled with the stuff. My husband started to tell me something was going on with me whilst I slept..he didn’t know what was going on, said I was shaking alot & sounded like I was gasping & choking. I didn’t believe him, but noticed some mornings I was waking up feeling really awful. I finally listened to him & visited my doctor. She sent me for a brain scan & I found out that I was having seizures in my sleep.

Now I more than likely have a pre-disposition, but once my Neuro told me that aspartame could induce seizures I stopped eating all “fake” sugars. I haven’t had a seizure since, although I am on medication to prevent seizures, I am about to be weened off of the meds after being 3 yrs seizure free(wahoo!!). I truly believe that as long as I stay away from aspartame I will be fine. My children will never know what that stuff tastes like!

    • Stevia is safe and all natural, but personally, I find it leaves a bit of an aftertaste I don’t really care for. As taste differs from person to person, it still might be fine for you.

  7. I have had vertigo (dizziness) in the morning lately. I have been consuming Muscle Milk which has Acesulfame Potassium, another name for Aspertame, BEWARE!

  8. Other things to worry about? If you’re concerned about aspartame, you probably also want to check what things in your diet contain MSG and HFCS and see if you need to worry about those, too.

  9. Thank you for this info! I have also experienced all of these symptoms and for 5 years I have not been able to lose weight or understand my depression, irritability, confusion, etc. In the last 1 1/2 years I have severe joint pain in my knees and have lupus symptoms. I am now on methotrexate and feel a little better.I began using stevia when I started the meds. I ran out of it 2 weeks ago and was using splenda again. My joint pain is back! I also have a 15 year old son who has a severe weight problem with joint pain but he eats very little. He also has lupus like symptoms. I am going to remove all artificial sweeteners from the whole familys diet and I will report all changes as they come. Thank you again for this website!

  10. Aspartame shows up in the strangest places. I was getting it in Allavert orally dissentigrating antihistamines. Every fall, I would take the stuff, then start having muscle cramps that escalated to the point my legs got too weak for me to walk up a flight of stairs. I looked at the label & found it listed as acesulfame. I got off of it cold-turkey, & thought I was losing my mind, but after I got it out of my system, I’m much better. I talked to my doctor about it, & he was shocked by where I found it. I am so sensitive to the sweetener that half of a diet soda gives me a migraine.

  11. What about Splenda? Is it a natural sweetner? Any bad side affects from
it’s use? I was a heavy Aspartame user for over 25 years and have been
having many of the health issues as these other folks including Diabetes
and tested positive for Lupus. I have also gone off Caffeine because of the constant heartburn and headaches it can cause.

  12. So glad to find this sight with such helpful information. Both my husband and I have been using aspartame and splenda for many years. He started having severe leg pain over a year ago. After someone mentioned to him how they had the same symptoms as he while using splenda, and he stopped using it, getting almosg immediate relief. I then began doing some in depth research on these “sweet poisons”, and was shocked to learn that they caused such a wide variety of serious side effects. One being leg and muscle pain.

  13. Does anyone know if “aspartame” could “severe water retention” (Edema) in the ankles and legs??
cuz Iv’e been drinking alot of it in diet bottle water and diet soda for some years now and then just about a year ago my ankles and legs swelled up. I’ve been watching my “sodium” intake. The swelling and water retention is under control now with a heavy duty water pills since I’ve been under a specialized doctor’s care.

  14. I have Fibromyalgia and when I was first diagnosed I read that aspartame can have ill effects for my FMS… sure enough every time I accidentally eat or drink something with it in it I go into a flare up (basically severe pain in my entire body and usually in bed for a week). It is amazing how much stuff it is in when your actively looking for it. It is in most gum, almost all Crystal Light products, and even food. Beware of anything that says “light” or “sugar free.” Even the Sugar Free syrup at IHOP has it in it!

  15. I agree with all the fake sugar comments. Perhaps, Heidi, who suffers from fribromyalgia may want to research; glyconutrients and Fibromyalgia. Mannatech is the company that distributes “Ambrotose” which is an aloe-vera based product; totally natural; totally safe; non toxic. Ambrotose has been patented in the U.S. and several other countries
