This succulent plant has been used for centuries for it’s natural ability to soothe and heal. It is an astringent, emollient, antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral. It can be applied to burns and wounds and it stimulates healing. If you have an Aloe plant, you can literally snap a leaf and apply the jelly directly to a cut or other skin irritation. Great for sunburn. Internally, aloe may be taken in supplement form and it works as a laxative. For this reason, aloe is commonly used in cleansing and weight loss products. Yes, it can help cleanse, but for weight loss, it’s no better than using any laxative except that it’s milder. Still not a good way to lose weight.
Contraindications: Some may be allergic (test a small amount behind your ear). Should not be taken internally during pregnancy.
