First of all, this can be a potent guy so avoid alcohol. Valerian root acts like a sedative, so it’s great for anxiety and improving a nervous mood. It can also help you fall asleep. It may even help relieve pain. Valerian root increases serotonin release which calms the body. It also may have an effect on sedation receptors in the brain.
Amount needed: Around 300 – 600 mg. Start small and make sure you avoid alcohol, driving or operating machinery. If you take any medications, particularly benzodiazepenes (i.e.Valium, Xanax) do not take valerian root without talking to your doctor.
