BioTrust IC-5

Henry’s rating 5 out of 5

If you are a regular reader of the Hound, then you know if there is one thing I hate more than cats – it’s Carbs! You have heard me go on and on about how carbs are the waistline’s biggest enemy. So when I heard that there was a new dietary supplement on the market that actually encourages you to eat carbs – well I had to be a bit skeptical. That was of course until I found out it was IC-5 put out by my old friends Josh Bezoni and Joel Marion, and their new supplement company – Bio Trust.

You see, here’s the thing. Carbohydrates are not really the enemy, it’s really the kind of carbs, and the way your body reacts to and processes them. The real problem is insulin. Insulin is the hormone that breaks down carbs, usually into energy for cells and muscles. At least that is with natural carbs. But over the last few decades our diets have became so filled with processed carbs that our bodies have had to work harder, and harder to break down and process. Which means more and more insulin needing to be produced. Over time, the typical “modern” American diet has lead to insulin tolerance in our bodies. That kind of insulin insensitivity causes an over abundance of insulin in the blood stream. When there is too much insulin around you know what happens? You body thinks it is starving – and fat gets stored instead of burned.

What Joel and Josh have come up with in IC-5 is a way to “supercharge” your body’s insulin, so a little bit goes a long way, just as nature intended. In fact, IC-5 makes insulin so much more effective at processing carbs at lower levels, that you can even increase your intake of carbs, while using IC-5.

IC-5 uses a proprietary blend of all natural herbal extracts and ingredients, many of which have been used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurvedic practices for their fat burning properties, such as Cinnamomum Burmannii, or “Indonesian cinnamon, or “cinnamon bark.” Indonesian cinnamon has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years, to treat a variety of ailments including weightloss. Clinical studies have confirmed the ability of cinnamon bark to manage healthy blood sugar levels. A 2004 study concluded that “In humans, Cinnulin (a water-soluble extract of Cinnamomum Burmannii, appears to support glucose transport mechanisms by enhancing the insulin signaling pathways.”

But the insulin-improving ingredients in IC-5 do not stop there; it also contains Berberine, Pterocarpus Marsupium, and Alpha Lipoic Acid. Alpha Lipoic Acid has long been recognized as a powerful natural treatment for “metabolic syndrome,” a common condition in people who are overweight, that has been described as a “combination of risk factors such as insulin resistance, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and low HDL cholesterol.” Which in simpler terms is a recipe for disaster!

All of the other ingredients in IC-5 have also been shown in various studies to reduce the effects of insulin resistance.

How to Use Bio Trust IC-5

IC-5 is to be taken before eating carbs. Take two capsules about 15 minutes before easting any high-carbohydrate meal.

Who Should Use It?

Anybody who is struggling with weightloss, needs to boost his or her metabolism, or is showing definitive signs of, or has been diagnosed with “metabolic syndrome” should use IC-5. There is overwhelming evidence to suggest that the ingredients in IC-5 may be very effective in not only maintaining optimal blood sugar levels by improving the way the body metabolizes glucose, but also for reducing the effects of insulin insensitivity.

The Good

Bio Trust IC-5 is 100% all natural. Like all Bio trust supplements IC-5 contains no artificial colors, sweeteners or ingredients. The ingredients in IC-5 have been used for centuries by herbal practitioners, and have been proven safe and effective.

The Bad

There have been few if any side effects reported with any of the ingredients in IC-5. Since they are know to effect blood sugar levels, diabetics, or people on diabetic medication to manage blood sugar levels, should probably not use IC-5 without consulting their healthcare provider.

The Bottom Line

The various ingredients in IC-5 offer some great protection from the troubles usually associated with a high-carb diet. So if you are one of those that just can’t cut out the carbs from your diet or lifestyle, at least give your body a better fighting chance against them, by packing some IC-5.

  1. I did the research an watched the video when you first recommended Bio-Trust hormone balancing, and bought it that day. I was excited, but after 3 days the nausea and dizziness kicked in. I stuck it out for another week but I just couldn’t deal with it anymore. I do tend to have hypotension (low BP) on a regular basis though. So alas it’s been returned. Disappointed, so I think it’s time for the good old fashion “diet” and just stick out another year to lose 30 lbs. thank you though for the research

    • Sorry to hear that it did not work out for you. Good lesson not all supplements are good for everyone make sure to discontinue them if you ever have any side affects and consult your doctor. BioTrust has great customer service and refund policy if it did not work for you.
