What Exactly is the “Dukan Diet”?
The Dukan Diet is a high protein diet system (much like the first Atkins diet) created by Pierre Dukan in France that’s starting to make it’s waves across the world. Let’s see how it stacks up…
So, Does it Work?
Yes, you will mostly likely lose weight with this diet but not without paying a price. The Dukan Diet is certainly no scam but being that it’s an extremely high protein diet it can be extremely dangerous too. The restrictive dieting plan is also something people aren’t likely to stick with for the long haul so results may be only temporary…

More Bad News…
The side effects of this diet cannot be ignored. The major side effects can include kidney and liver damage (ketosis), nutrient deficienies, diet induction flu, gallstones, and a few less alarming but more common side effects such as bad breath, muscle loss, dry mouth and fatigue.
Also, this diet should NEVER be used by someone diagnosed with kidney problems or if you’re pregnant or breast feeding and people with type I diabetics (as well as Type II insulin dependents).
So Henry, What’s the Verdict?
Does it work? Yes! Is it a scam? NO! Is it a healthy way to lose weight? NO! Is it another fad diet? Probably (it’s very similar to Atkins). High protein diets are always going to work, but the point of losing weight is to get healthy, right? Not even a daily multivitamin can even come close to the nutrients you’re going to lose on this diet and it could really take a toll on your body. While it’s no scam, I can not and will not recommend this diet to anyone. The health concerns far outweigh the weight loss.
