Nopalea: Magic desert juice or clever marketing?

by on October 12, 2010

Henry‘s Rating: 1.0 / 5.0

It was just a matter of time before Nopalea (pronounced “NO-pay-lee-uh” fancy name for prickly pear cactus), would be unveiled as the world’s next super ingredient in the world of Multi-Level-Marketing…

It will cure… well, according to their marketing materials… just about anything. The mechanism is by cooling off our inflammation, hey who doesn’t want that?

Is Nopalea this century’s greatest health discovery or just another magical waste of your money? Let’s sniff it out!

The Claims

The Real Deal

Betalains in prickly pear figs (nopalea) have the ability to reduce inflammation and thus improve health. While betalains are beneficial (they inhibit a pro-inflammation enzyme called cyclooxygenase enzymes), it is unlikely that the proprietary blend has enough of these guys to reduce chronic inflammation. More on this below…
Betalains are rare phytochemicals found in only a few plants… ergo, we are all running around deficient of this “vital” nutrient… Betalains are found in the following plants:- Red & yellow beets
- Swiss chard
- Rhubarb
- Cactus fruits
- Spinach
- Amaranth
- Quinoa

So, maybe these aren’t all on a typical Western diet (but they could be)… I’m just sayin’… they ain’t exactly rare!

Each serving contains over 900 grams of their magnificent proprietary blend… 900 GRAMS??? In 1 ounce (2 Tablespoons)? An ounce of water weighs approximately 29 grams… Is this a typo, a lie or does this hound dog need a refresher course on measurements???? I’ve emailed them… we’ll find out.
Great opportunity to make money… Can you say MLM? Yup… multi-level marketing!

Is Nopalea Something Special?

Listen, I’m not doggin’ this company completely. I mean, they are partially correct about phytochemicals having anti-inflammatory properties… they also have antioxidant properties and hundreds of other beneficial health boosters.

BUT, they are contained naturally in all plants and really, a variety of fruits, vegetables and whole grains is what you need. You can’t focus in on one phytochemical because they ALL work together to optimize health.

As mentioned above, I have to figure out how they got over 900 grams crammed into 2 tablespoons… this HAS to be a misprint. More importantly, because it is a proprietary blend… we have no way of knowing how much cactus is in this stuff!

Bottom line… Their proprietary blend does look healthy, BUT, it just isn’t enough to change your life the way they make it sound.

Expensive Juice…

At around $49 a bottle (32 servings) and a recommended 1-3 servings a day… this could cost you well over $100 a month. Unless of course you join the MLM and bug your friends and family to get into your… “Downline”…

Sorry, I don’t have any magic juice… just something REAL (and free) that actually works…

If you really want to find better health, prevent aging and lose weight, you don’t need an expensive supplement. No supplement in the world can counteract an unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle or stress!

I have a 100% free report I’ve put together that teaches you several proven methods to lose weight and find better health. Your choice… expensive juice and the chance to be the next “MLM mill-ion-aire” (said like the dude in Slumdog Millionaire)… or a simple, free report that can point you down the REAL path to better health… (cue for you to click below…)

After 2 knee scopes, and sounding like a firecracker everytime I got up I tired Nopalea.., I mystery admit 3 oz was a bit much on my gut but went to 1 oz a day and by the 3rd bottle it felt like my rt knee had been oiled up. I also have graves disease and last blood work vitamin d level was 16.8 norml limit 30-100, so I have bought their vitamin d supplement let's see. Remember we are all different so what works for me might not work for u....there are different big pharma companies selling different pills right? What's the difference?

If this is such a wonder product, I am sure the major drugs companies would be selling a derivitive by now. They are brilliant at finding lucrative markets for their products. Have they shown any interest? No? Enough said. Cari, Oban Scotland

I disagree. There are many remedies out there that seem to work, and are passed down thru generations, and drug companies and dr.s don't care at all. They are focused on drugs, treating only the symptoms, and keeping you on something that you have to take forever, in my opinion.

Quite true. That is the question to ask. Most of this stuff is pure marketing B.S. There is a shred of scientific basis and they exploit it well beyond the functionality of what is actually in the product.

HI! I just saw the program of the Nopalea Cactus Juice for the first time today on channel 221. This is amazing! I have the Prickly Pear Cactus growing in my yard. The prickly pear cactus has been in my family for decades. It is my favorite cactus! Now I am finding out that the fruit of this miracle plant can heal. I feel so blessed. How about a prickly pear fruit salad?

Henry... Thanks for being there/here...I just found you. As someone who has suffered many years with sorts of weird ailments, fatigue and weight issues, it is reassuring to know I am not alone! Myself and three of my siblings have been diagnosed with Celiac Sprue disease. It is unfortunate that it took the medical community over forty years to ascertain the cause of many of our problems... which it seems is genetic! Nevertheless, it seems that America is way behind in some areas of medicine than are our counterparts across the pond! Also, I wanted to point out that many 'inflammatory" issues can be caused by undiagnosed food sensitivities and/or allergies, thyroid disease, skin rashes, etc.... many or all of which may be connected to undiagnosed celiac/gluten issues. It appears, to me, that there are still many missing links being addressed by the medical community, FDA, etc. Anyway, thanks for being here!

Hi, I was just looking into a product I seen on an ifomercial last night called Nopalea and have stumbled upon this blog site. WOW, I didn't realize how many people were out there in as much or more pain than me from similar conditions as me. I have Fibromyalgia, Osteo Arthritis, Hashimotos Thyroiditis, Gout, Atrial Fibulation and also suffer mainly on my arms from what has been diagnosed after having biopsies, Ulcers of an Unspecified Origin. The Othopedic surgeon has said I need a knee replacement on my right knee and the left on is just about needing replacement. However, due to my weight and poor circlualtion in my lower limbs I am not a good candidate for the surgery. I have tried everything, everytime I see something new advertised I try it if I can rake up the money as I have been so desperate for relief. I have been dieting for over six months and haven't been able to loose any weigh and find that due to fluid retention I tend to put weight on now and again and have to increase the fluid tablets. At the present time I am no longer allowed to take Anti-Inflammitory Meds due to allergies, so my only way of dealing with the pain is pretty heavy Pain Meds constantly. I am so sick of having to take these drugs all the time and suffer doubts of depression where I wonder is it all worth what I'm going through.. Then I think of my sister and my 2 children and their partners and my 11 grandchildren and know that I couldn't give up because of them and how devistated they would be if I didn't keep trying. My sister has been a wonderful support in that she has spent about a month or more researching foods and their benefical qualities with regards to my conditions and has written up a menu plan for a 3 week period, each day I have a couple of choices for each meal and she has also written recipes for whole food type meals. So now I eat only all natural foods, nothing processed and I have been doing this religiously now for just over 2 weeks and have lost my 1st, 3.7 kilos in that fortnight. So far the pain hasn't really eased off although some days are better than others. I can hardly walk around my unit and when I do have to go shopping I can barely finish it and have to have my sister and her friend help me with the balance and going through the checkouts as I can't continue to stand. The next day I am in agony just from having to do a little shopping. so these days I rarely go anywhere unless one of my kids come up for the day or the weekend. They live about an hour away. I have also been drinking ECHO water for the last 2 months and hope that that will help with the acidity levels in my body as it is suppose to balance your PH levels which could be the cause of some of the inflammation. All or most of my meals include things such as Tumeric Powder, Fresh Garlic & Ginger, Chilli Powder, along with many other herbs and spices with all Fresh Fruit and Veg and only a little red meat, mainly chicken and fish with some eggs. So now we wait and see how it all goes. I will come back to this site an a month and post results I've had so far. Christine

Dear Christine, I found, over much trial and error, that a lot of my pain was caused by an over acidic system so I started using a vinegar drink that alkalizes my system and it works very well for me. Thought I'd share: In an 8 oz. glass, I use about 1 tsp. honey and add warm water to dissolve it. Then I add a good size teaspoon of Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (raw and unfiltered), stir that and then add some nice, cold water and there ya go. You can drink a couple of these a day if you want and you can also adjust the honey or use a sugar substitute. If you decide to give this a try, I hope you have the success I have.

Dear E. K. Leslie, Have you tried figs for more alkaline. I found this 2 to 3 yrs ago. surfing the web. There was this table of comparison on which food produces more alkaline and acids. It also says that our body must have a ratio of 80/20 (80 alkali/20 acid) or else our overall health will not be good to over acidity. The table said figs are the most alkaline producing followed only by raisins and other vegetables such as spinach. I have been on 3 to 4 figs a day ever since and do not take anti acids anymore. Sounds funny but after suffering from heartburn for so long I say Im glad I tried it. The table of comparison is easy to find online

I've been taking Nopalea 3 oz 2 X day for 3 weeks. It might assist in helping aches and pains, but I cannot be certain. These products in a certain % of cases work like a placebo. If a person believes they are helpful, the person will feel better as a matter of psychology. The Tri-Vita brand tastes good; so I like it from that stand point. It's like drinking very expensive orange juice. James

my 13 year old son has been diagnosed with arthritis - it is now in more than 1 joint and the dr. wants to put him on a low dose of methotrexate (type of chemotherapy) of course we really don't want to do this but the other medicine they reccommended sounded worse, if you can believe that. This medicine will prevent joint damage as well as help with pain and inflammation. I asked about natural remedies and all I was told was that fish oil would help a little but he still needed the medicine. Any thoughts out there. He is starting the meds. tonight.

instead of a a juicer, buy a high quality blender. this way you keep all the fiber of the fruit! I use my home blender and mix various fruits and veggies with either a little juice or yogurt and a bit of protein powder to make healthy smoothies for some of my meals. I do peel my oranges and scrub any skinned veggies or fruits like carrots, apples, but keep skin on in general. It is making a difference in how I feel. I also gave up processed foods. I go to the public market and an organic public market for my fruits and veggies.

Montel Williams is selling a juicer. I'm sure it's a good one that is overpriced, however, eating your fruits is so much better than "juicing". Why? When you eat the fruit, you get the fiber! That's another item we don't get enough of. If you increase the fiber you stay full longer and your digestive system will thank you! : )

I had breakfast with a friend the other day whom has multiple physical problems stemming from several different accidents - and who looked so fantastic, eyes were brighter and dark circles gone, skin was clear & color great, and ease of movement increased ... She told me that she had started taking Nopalea a month ago and she is now able to get out of bed in the mornings she is no longer stiff and sore and her mobility has improved and keeps improving. She said the first several days she was detoxing she was a little off kilter since then she improves daily - she does not sell it - her dramatic improvement showed all over her face .... I came upon this site while looking for other reviews ... I do not believe it is a cure all but a maintenance need product ... I have had multiple physical issues and have decided to remove myself from the medical treadmill of constantly going to the Dr. to try and find solutions and only getting a handful of prescriptions or sent for surgery (which most likely were not necessary but has become standard practice in Corporate medicine - hysterectomy is one example) I now recognize that it is up to me to hop off the medical tread mill of prescription drugs, constant lab test, and unnecessary surgeries - which is expensive even with insurance (this does not mean that there are cases when one needs a physician) I have joint pain and other issues - and as my friend, who has no monetary advantage has recommend it - it will be worth trying to see if it works for me - at this point I have had to many down days due to pain to not try it - if it does work then I will quit buying it - one does not have to "sell" the product - that is an option! ;-)

I have been looking at this product and researching for several months now. Overall I think it has helped more than not from everything I have found so far. I too am VERY leary due to the cost of this product. 1 bottle for $50? And with the recommendation of taking 3-6 oz the first 30 days, well that would cost well over $100 for sure just to try it and that is where they make their money whether it works or not. They should have dropped the price down for the first time buyers at least to give them an opportunity to see if it works for them or not so they wouldn't be out of MORE money than what they have already spent on their medical care. My husband has pain and COPD along with allergy issues and could use this along with my chronic pain that I have been dealing with for 8 years and high stress at work. So I think I am going to give this a try and see what happens for at least 30 days. If it gives one of us a small amount of relief it would be worth something hopefully. Keeping my fingers crossed. Once we get it tried I will update this just to let everyone know what we found with us trying it out.

for my family Nopalea has been a Godsend. My husband had plantar fasciitis 3 years ago and tried pretty much everything. He decided to try the product to see if it would work and felt he had nothing to lose. He used 6 oz. a day for 6 -8 weeks. The pain is gone and hasn't returned. He takes 2 oz. a day as a maintenance dose. The one side effect he had was a major improvement in his vision to the point he had to get new glasses. Our grandson has been helped too. He has asthma and with several products from TriVita he is off his puffer and enjoying a better quality of life. Nopalea does not cure or heal it simply allows the body to detoxify and be in a better state of health. It would appear that some of the people writing comments are not familiar with or seen the results that we have seen in our family.

It has worked for me. Pain gone in legs and feet after about 3 weeks of using. It is very expensive for the amount you get but with my pain and discomfort gone I will continue using for now. I may explore how to cook and eat the nopalea cactus and see if that works as well. According to the blog below it is certainly a great deal less expensive.

My mom has taken Nopalea for about a year, for peripheral neuropathy (numbness/tingling in extremities) and psoriasis, with good results. I've been taking it for about 3 months for my IBS, environmental allergies and neck/back pain. I used to take OTC ibuprofren, on an almost a daily basis, for my neck/back pain. Within a few days, Nopalea took away my daily aches/pains, where I maybe need ibuprofen once or twice a month now, and even then, not as many tablets. I also take a prescription allergy medication daily, but even when that doesn't stop really bad allergy attacks, Nopalea stops the attack completely within minutes of taking it, which even Vitamin C doesn't do as well for me. I have also struggled with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) for years, plus acid reflux, and it has taken away my related stomach cramps, bloating, and chest pain. I also noticed it has completely cleared my eczema, which I've had since a child. I was also able to quit drinking coffee, which was a daily necessity for me, within days of starting Nopalea, with no cravings whatsoever. It does generally make you feel more energetic and healthier with no stimulants. If I hadn't tried it myself and had known of my mom's success with it beforehand, I wouldn't have believed it either. For me, I'd rather spend the money, on something that helps so many of my overall conditions and makes me feel great, then spend that same amount of money on buying coffee a few times a week or on going out to eat a few times a month or spending money on OTC medications or supplements that don't work as well for me.

Hi. I agree with all what Henry says about Trivita-Nopalea. I stupidly fell for this MLM a while ago, when an acquaintance told me about the uniqueness of Nopalea's betalains and how it cleared up her psoriasis etc. etc. I tried it myself and honestly I didn't notice anything. I sold it to some neighbors who had arthritis, bursitis and rheumatism and they told me that they didn't notice any positive change so... you know the rest of the idea. Regards, Ana.

I've had the same problem off and on for the past 5 years. I had a hunch it was because my body was too acidic. I started drinking organic green veggie juice (with a garlic clove and half a whole lemon thrown in) on a daily basis and I am feeling w-a-a-a-y better. I make a large batch in my blender in the a.m., take half to drink during my lunch break and kept the other half in the fridge to drink with my dinner in the evening. I consider these drinks my "salad" with my meals. Your body can heal itself, but you need to give it the proper ingredients to work with. :)

As a ortho/neuro RN, it sounds to me as if you may have chrondromalacia (but definitely check with a ortho doctor - the following info is from the Mayo website, hope this helps): The cartilage under your kneecap (patella) is a natural shock absorber. Overuse, injury or other factors may lead to a condition known as chondromalacia patella — a general term indicating damage to the cartilage under your kneecap. A more accurate term for chondromalacia patella is patellofemoral pain syndrome. The most common symptom is knee pain that increases when you walk up or down stairs. Simple treatments — such as rest and ice — often help, but sometimes physical therapy or even surgery is needed to ease patellofemoral pain.

Well, I can say this - I've been drinking Nopalea for 2 1/2 years and it is the only thing that has relieve my pain in a natural way. I know that Systemic Enzymes work very well too, but they cost more than Nopalea. For pain, this has been such a relief and has improved the quality of my life. My allergies are under control while I am on Nopalea and I just feel great. When I stop, my allergies will flare up when things are at their peak. After a while, I was able to reduce my daily intake to about 2oz a day. A box of 4 is $114 and I think that is not too much to pay to no longer have pain. All of us can find areas to cut back on, if we truly want to feel better and be healthier. Thanks to TriVita for wonderful products, wonderful customer service and for STANDING BEHIND their products and mission to bring wellness to the world.

I have been reading all the reviews and claims about this product and watched the presentation on television. I am completely blown away by this! If this was genuinely a 'cure-all', wouldn't doctors be pushing it to promote the wellness of their patients? I can only say that if I discovered something that would heal or relieve pain, I would do my best to get it to the public at minimal cost to them and not promote a multi-level-marketing scheme for getting wealthy off of someone's infirmities and desperation for a cure. Thank God Jonas Salk didn't hold out until he established a way to get rich from his knowledge!!!! Isn't MLM like the illegal Pyramid? I cannot afford $50 a bottle x 4 a month x 2 adults. Do the math!!! If it were a Rx, at least insurance would help defray the costs. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! BE SMART, NOT DESPERATE!

Of course doctor's are not going to promote this product, because if it truly does work then people won't need to go to the doctor as often and then they (the docs) will nlose money. That ain't gonna happen. I just placed my first order of Nopalea, and can't wait to try it.

I order 2 bottles of Nopalea every month for my daughter, she has Cystic fibrosis and she seems to do better when taking Nopalea. In 2009 I had some really bad jaw pain that went on for one month. The inside of my jaw was swollen and I would struggle to eat a sandwich at lunch time due to the pain. The pain started right after Halloween when I ate too much left over Halloween candy, the pain continued for approx. 1 month until taking Nopalea. I used some of the Nopalea I was buying for my daughter. Yes, I should have seen a Doctor sooner. After taking about 3-6 ounces of Nopalea twice a day, the pain and the inflammation went away in only 3 days. This is just my story for what it's worth. The pain never returned. In my opinion Nopalea tastes great and my daughter thinks so also. Nopalea has a 60 day money back guarantee. Thanks Nopalea!

For someone like me who suffers from chronic pain I know every time one of these so called miracle cures popup I listen as I am always looking for an alternative to being addicted to pain pillls,I saw part of the infomercial last night at the end of a dale earnhardt recording but only saw a minute of it,but it was making some pretty strong claims. I am always wishing for a miracle cure so I could get back to my normal life that I miss ,so naturally I become easy prey when it comes to shelling out 50 bucks for a bottle of something that may or may not work ,I am intrigued by your post and was wondering if you could keep us up to date on your daughters progress using nopalea.I really hope it works for her

Dear Ada, I'm Don Vanderburg. I'm 62 years old and got shingles when I was 34. As a lifelong multi athlete with impeccable health who never got sick, this came as a shock to me. Thankfully, my Dad was a highly respected Nueropsychiatrist who also had shingles. Some background on him. He's a certified genius. Attended Rice University when he was 16, and did his internship at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston Texas at the request of the leading Pneuropsychiatrist at the time. When Jack Ruby shot Oswald, they called my father to evaluate him and administer an EEG. He founded and built the Beaumont Neurological Center and was know as one of the most preimminent diagnosticians throughout his career. This has nothing to do with shingles, but I just wanted to add a little credibility to my testimony. the left side of my face swelled up so badly you could not see my neck or distinguish any features. My Father said if a couple more days went by I would have been blind. Long story short, there is a completely natural, safe, inexpensive and extremely efffective remedy for this aliment. He told me he learned this from a very old doctor friend of his and said, Quote "No one in medicine knows this....but I'm lucky to know this guy." Solution: take 2000 mg of L-Lysine (a natural essential Amino Acid wth NO side effects) every 8 hours. Shingkes is caused by the chicken pox virus, that, even though we may have been vaccinated -as I was - and had the disease only once, the virus lies dormant in the basal ganglia of the brain for the rest of your life. Under stress generally, this virus "wakes up" and begins to do its dirty work. The great news is, if you saturate your system with Lysine, it creates an environment in which the virus cannot survive or thrive...this is a fact.WORKS EVERY TIME. COMPLETELY. I've had a few flare-ups over the years, but as SOON as I recognize the early painful/sensitivity symptoms I pound down the Lysine and within a couple of days itsubsides and I'm back to normal. It CANNOT hurt you. It's cheap, accesible at any vitamin or grcery store. Keep taking it until all the symptoms go away. I take 2000 mg of Lysine daly anyway now because it's good for us. Mine occurs in the right side of my head/scalp/eye area. My Dad's was around the midsection of his sides and back. Feel free to email me. God Bless.

I too just saw this infomercial last night. My wife suffers with chronic pain and since 1994 after a spinal surgery, no doctor to this day can pin point what is really going on. We did recently find in a CT scan a virus that attacked her SI joint and lower lumber area of her spine. We did the Steroid shot in each but to no avail. We watch this infomercial together.. of course she's like, I want it, but my experience told me otherwise. This site proves my thought. As a chef, I cook healthy. We use anti-inflamatory foods, no night shade vegetables like eggplant, tomatoes and peppers. Yet in the infomercial there was Cheryl Tieggs talking about her long path to finding anti-inflamatory health, while she stood at a kitchen workboard with peppers! That was my single to know this was not what they said. Thank you everyone for the words of wisdom here. What I know is that the best thing is laughter along with healthy foods. Omega 3 supplements especially from Nordic Naturals. We found out the Cedar Sinai here in LA did a study naming this brand the best. Because the extract the oil from younger sardines and anchovies due to the fact that they had less time to increase the bad stuff. The older the fish the more likely the less potency. Makes sense to me. Otherwise, I look forward to this Report Download. I hope my sharing her will help others as well.. .thanks for including me. Ken

Look for a NUCCA chiropractor. This style of chiropractics works by realigning the C1 vertebra, to allow full exchange of information through the brain stem. This allows the body to heal itself and repair the mysterious aches and pains that medical doctors can not explain or find. You`ll be amazed at what it can help with. Wayne

I watch Doctor Oz show on a daily basis. Even he has recommended a prickly pear supplement for inflamation. He generally researches all the supplements he endorses/shares with us as viewers, but always says consult your doctor first if you have chronic conditions and are on medications. I recommend that everyone check out his show. He shares some of the best alternitives supplements and foods to use for chronic conditions. Supplementing does NOT mean stop taking your medications. It just means there are alternatives for extra support in some conditions such as, inflamation, diabetes, heart health, chronic fatigue, etc...ALWAYS, check with your doctor before supplementing to make sure there will be no ill reactions. Hope this helps.

My ex-mother-in-law has diabetes and about 4 years ago, when we first moved near her I noticed that she had the typical sores associated with the disease. I did some research to find a natural solution and came across this herb. I started putting it in her food, a teaspoon with EVERY meal for about a month. Within a week, her sores finally started healing, within the month they were gone, and 4 years later they still have not returned. This it TRULY a miracle cure.... as are ALL herbs, if you learn their proper uses.....why do you think they were put on this earth? lol

Try the Teeter Hangup for your sciatic pain ..only costs $300 bucks delivered to your door.. have been suffering from sciatic pain from bulging disk... many visits to the chiropractor who put me on this table that moves your body back and forth stretching your spine.. made me feel better but not really enough force on my spine to make a difference. Got the Teeter Hangup and after less than 2 weeks of use (take it slow at first but it feels really great you'll have a tendency to over do it because it gives you such relief.) I've never felt better. My range of motion VASTLY improved. NO SCIATIC PAIN. ZERO! Wish I'd found this a LONG time ago...

I recently ran into nopalea snake oil rep on a RSD/CRPS forum. I knew as soon as he said the product cures many conditions that this is just another health and wellness company preying on people desperate for pain relief. This guy was so desperate to make a sale he resorted to telling me he also has RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy), his blog site (free of course because he had not yet made his million from the MLM *chuckle), the site stated "Cure" - I informed him the FDA really frowned on that claim, and if reported he'd be shut down! Pathetic how so many of these health and wellness companies pop up to make money off of people suffering. The claims give false hope and so many with chronic pain suffer from depression, the let down (and loss of money) can be too much for some. What is really sad, is that people really do buy in to the claims and do no research. A few years ago my friends mother stopped taking her insulin because she bought some product she had seen on an infomercial that claimed to control blood sugar naturally and testimonials of people stating to now be insulin free. My friends mother ended up in a coma, thankfully she recovered but lost 3 toes - she had stopped taking her insulin for several months - she could have died! My part time hobby *giggle* is trolling forums to alert the foolish and expose the greedy liars!

As far as the 900 grams for the 1 ounce (2 Tablespoons)this is what it is converted, 900 grams = 1.98416036 pounds. So maybe it was the weight of the fruit to liquid. Those that have juiced know how much it can take to get a small amount. I have gout bad and have already ordered some. Juicing can be a pain and mess for extended periods.

I also have gout really bad to where I can't walk. Just the light touch of a sheet or gentle breeze of someone walking past would send me in a frenzy of pain. I just saw the informercial and decided to look it up. Im glad I found this page. I know when I drink the Sam's Choice Cranberry/Black Cherry juice daily I have not had any major flareups in over a year. Occasionally I have had twinges in my toes so I increase the black cherry by taking a tablespoon 3x a day for a few days of Dark Cherry concentrate. Pretty tart but worth it. The bottle is about 15$ and lasts for months. Or you can buy capsules of black cherry concentrate that work, however I dont feel they work as quickly as the concentrate liquid. A good diet and education on what causes our ailments and how to take care of it is a lot better than relying on some informercial telling me they can cure it. I have not had a bad flare up in over a year as long as I do as mentioned. We dont need to spend a fortune to feel better we just need to educate ourselves and use common sense.

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar works wonders for gout, and is available in grocery stores. It ned to be organic and unfiltered....with the "mother" in it. Mix two tablespoons of the OACV in a large glass of water and drink it throughout the day. Along with the OACV one must also eliminate hard liquour and foods that are high in purines, like mushrooms, spinach, shellfish and others, and food high in tannins, like tea and red wine. Beaucoup info on the net about this.....just google it.

Hi everyone: I recently watched the "nopalea" proganda on tv and let me tell you something: This a tipycal example how you can make easy money, and what is worth, taking advantage of people's suffering and health conditions, let me explian: The term "nopalea" comes from the mexican word "nopal" wich is one of the many variations of cactus, this kind of cactus is used to reduced the blood sugar leves(cientifically proven) in people with diabetes type II, you can buy it specially in hispanics stores for about $1.50 to $2.00 a pound; you can also buy the prickly pears wich they are the fruit of this cactus (nopal), 3 for $ 1.50 to $2.00 red or green, besides they really delicious I still haven't found the anti-inflamatory benefits they supossed to have. My suggestion is: Do some research on this plant, find out the medical benefits and if itworks for you, go ahead.

I wonder if this product can be considered a placebo? With all the claims I'm reading on here this sounds sooo familiar to me. A product with similar claims came out years ago called Noni juice. Most of us are familiar with this product and know the history behind this oh so familiar scam. MLM is a scam and so are the claims most of these cure all products boast. Just for the fact that people are claiming it helps so many different ailments is a red flag for me. But the biggest flag is the fact that there is an opportunity behind the product. Money is the fuel for this machine NOT GOOD HEALTH! To claim that an Indian tribe flourished for many years in the desert is a testament to this one cactus plant is a ridiculous statement. Never mind their adaptation and hard work to survive in such harsh conditions, but lets chalk it all up to one cactus plant that saved that whole tribe. "lol" More funny claims and out of this world facts from a bunch of MLM marketers making an abundance of money from ignorant desperate people.

I read up on betalains today, after watching a Nopalea commercial for the second time. I have renal osteodystrophy (my kidneys failed and my bones were leeched of calcium due to the side effects of kidney failure) and every single bone in my feet has shattered into several pieces. They will never heal, and like having RA, have become deformed. Because of the bones moving when I take steps, I am CONSTANTLY swollen in my feet, ankles and legs. Of course I wanted to learn about a possible cure for the pain and inflammation! I found that you can buy the prickly pear capsules, as mentioned above, eat the vegetables and grains listed above, but you can also buy BEET ROOT capsules, which will give you the same betalains if you can't bear to eat the afore listed foods. Be cautious with the beet root though, as it can cause problems if you have kidney problems, or if you are pregnant or nursing. (Just do a little research before you try any supplement!)

Everyone should be careful of taking any supplements if they are on medications prescribed by their doctors. Supplements may conflict with the medications and it could be very serious. Supplements are not regulated by the FDA or any other organization, so be very careful. Every person has a different body chemistry and could have a very serious reaction to these non-regulated supplements. Don get me wrong, I love and ake quite a few supplements but I always check with my doctors and pharmacist. One time that I made the mistake of not doing so, because so many friends took this supplement and swore by it. It turned out to be a hallucinogen for some people, including me. I nearly jumped out of a second story window while out of town at a friend's home. I totally trashed her daugter's room where I was sleeping, but luckily not able to break the window I was trying so hard to get out of. Please be very careful! Again, many supplements are amazing. Just be sure yo know what you're doing! Be well!

I have severe rheumatoid arthritis. It has attacked me pretty bad for my age. I am only 48. Have had it for over 25 years. My hands and feet are completely disfigured. When I get a flair, it sometimes attacks in my sternum area. It is so painful to move and breath. I have recently had a severe fall (running to help my son, when someone was trying to break into our home). I fell and landed on my chin. I have stitches in my chin, and I have a compound fracture in my jaw, and a piece of the jaw bone broke off and is floating. I am in extreme pain. the narcotics I take, unfortunately I have a high tolerance level, and they don't work well. I do take Orencia once a month by infusions, but if you have any type of cold or fever, you can't get the infusion. Last year, I only had it 4 times. If you make your own juice, how long before you start to see results? I am so sick of being on pain meds. Would like to try something that works that is natural.

I have found many natural cures for things, the vegies and fruits on our earth were made just for us, and even epsom salts is a cure for many things to do with skin disorders. The cucumber for instance gets rid of headaches, and even hangovers due to the nutrients in it. Inflammation is a major issue and even cinnamon and termeric ..these seasonings found in your grocery store in fact help and have been proven. Just look around you, also for colds, zinc and even the old remedy of vicks vapor rub on the feet for colds, and is safe even for infants, now how is that for great cures!

I did try this tasty juice and felt a little better than my normal but not enough to spend that kind of money routinely. What I did not like was being inundated not only with TriVita's marketing-gone-wild but suddenly started getting health related advertising from a bunch of others who all have some doctor touting their breakthrough, proprietary something or other.

yes Lisa, go to a chinese fruit and veggie stand. I finally found one that sells it. Prickly Pears they are called. They have green and red. I buy my mom the red ones. I did buy my mother the Nopalea to take once in a blue. But the Prickly Pears are much cheaper and they really help her. Ps if you have a juicer you can make your own drink. Good Luck.

Certainly check out the 900 grams proprietary compound in 2 tablespoons of water. But be aware that if the product is dried and concentrated, it is very possible to supersaturate small amounts of a liquid with large amounts of solids, i.e. soluble powders. It kind of the reverse concept of putting 2 tablespoons of water in 2 cups of sand and having it all wet (not dripping of course).

If you go to the health food store & buy "Prickly Pear capsules" they are cheaper. "Prickly Pear" is the same thing they are selling in those expensive bottles. Why pay more. I researched it on the Internet & they are one & the same. The capsules do work. I have OA & RA plus fibromyalgia.

I am a registered nurse and usually don't try gimmicky types of advertised supplements. I did try the Nopalea for 2 months and very sad to say have not appreciated much of a change as I was hoping for. It is very expensive at $40/bottle for members. I will be continuing to do research for less expensive natural anti-inflammatories. I will eat beets more often and take 1500mg Vit C, drink plenty of water, get as much exercise as I can tolerate, take Tumeric, Milk Thistle, Calcium, Fish Oil, Glucosamine and Condroitin Reservatrol and limited salt, fat and sugar intake, get plenty of rest/sleep. Try eating more blueberries and cherries, grapes as well.

I've had Epstein Barr for years now. Every time the virus becomes active I am completely wiped out and unable to move. I am getting the virus too frequent now and recently was told that I have fibromyalgia. For six months I have been in my bed and suffered with excrutiating pain, fatigue, fevers, joint pain, muscle pain, headaches, dizziness, numbness and tingling in my arms, and stomach pain. My mother had a box of Nopalea overnighted to my house on October 20th and I took 3oz immediately. I have been taking the recommended amount since I got it and yesterday October 23rd I woke up pain free. I don't care what anyone has to say about this product in a negative way. Until you live with an illness that changes your quality of life in a negative way you will try and do just about anything to regain good health. Today is the second day that I am mobile and pain free. I am literally crying tears of joy because I couldn't even care for my two year old daughter and it broke my heart. My suggestion to the person who wrote the negative feedback don't knock something until you try it. My recommendation to the world, get it because it works!!!! If you suffer from chronic pain, fatigue, inflammation of any kind, or need energy Nopalea does work. What is really sad and discusting is how much I pay a month for healthcare or the rest of the world for that matter and the lack of care we actually get. Symptoms are treated but the actually root of the problem is overlooked. Paying a little over $100 is chump change to get the results that I did and to know that it's actually healing my body is amazing to me. I feel like I got my life back.

nopalea- should be called dopelea. There is no scientific double blind studies on the efficacy of this product. You can achieve better results making it fresh on your own if you wish. A glass of V8 fruit drink and 2 advil would do more for inflamation reduction. Of course the people on the commercial and many online say it's a miricle. they give crying testimonials. They are looking to get paid for selling it. It cost next to nothing to make and you will pay 140.00 plus for 4 bottles. Don't spend your hard earned money on this snake oil. Unless you have no conscience and plan on selling it to friends and family. This company tru-vita should be ashamed, preying on really sick people is appauling. As with most pyramid selling the focus of this comapny is on marketing and sales. Only 3-5 % of the people selling make the real money. Why isn't the focus on scientific proof?? The same way pharmaceuticals must prove the work!! Not just placebo effect. The people of the dessert who live on this product and stay pain free is because they do not eat American processed food. Ask your own Dr. or pharmacist about this. They will tell you it is utter BS. Unless you go to a chiropractor or someone who is not a real Dr. and is not selling the stuff. Why is it marjketed at 3-4am. If it worked phama companies would already have a generic brand on it. Wake up America!! A sucker is born evry minute, but again preying on the elderly and or sick-just wrong on so many levels!!

I'm surprised at all of the negative comments about Nopalea Juice I've seen hear, but I wanted to echo the feelings of most that have tried it. I will start by saying that I HATE taking medication, and I would try anything to avoid it. I was taking 600 to 1000 mg of ibuprofin a day because my ankles ached so much I could barely walk in the morning and evening. I needed to use the stair rail to get up the stairs at night to go to bed. This went on for almost two years- doctor said it was probably arthritis setting in, and I probably start getting used to it. I also had frequent headaches, not migraines but mostly annoying. At the time I was 49 years old. I heard about Nopalea from a guy I coach baseball with- he had chronic back pain and was impressed with the results. He showed me where I could get a couple of bottles to try (I actually ended up getting them on ebay). I've actually never seen the infomercials I hear several talking about. I started taking about 4 oz. a day, just took it all at once, usually in the morning before leaving for work. Within 3 weeks, virtually all pain was gone! It took me about a week later to stop and think about the fact I hadn't felt any pain. I am getting an occassional deal on ebay, but I signed up to be a customer (I get the newsletter now) and order from them when I need it. Sorry, naysayers, I must say that I have been turned into a believer, no question.

I have been using the Nopalea product for about 4 weeks and it seems to be working. I have a physical disability of CP and have had two back operations over the last year. The pain before using this product was awful and unbearable and most days I was in bed. But since I have started the product I have been able to decrease my medciations and have become more active again. The product maybe a bit costly but it is better than daily pain and medications with negative side effects.

Beware the people who type a paragraph about how this product works in the comments, they are paid advertisers. There is no real research in these "clinical studies" which do not even exist. About the "clinical studies" mentioned in the last post: A few years ago TriVita advertised that "clinical studies" showed that their vitamin pill that you put under your tongue ("sublingual"!) got into your bloodstream 'X' times faster (don't remember the exact number). They were challenged to produce the 'clinical study' but instead chose to change their ads to say their method simply 'speeds it's way into your bloodstream'. I also get a chuckle out of their disclaimers at the end of every ad. After bragging how wonderful their products are and what all ailments they cure, we find a statement that basically says, in fine print, 'Don't rely on anything you read here. It is for informational purposes only. If you're sick, see your doctor.' Real weasel words, huh!

I have been drinking (organic) Apple Cider Vinegar with water... apx 3T ACV with 8oz. H2o... 2-3 times a day, for the inflamation and pain in my ankle. It worked like magic... the pain was gone! Not too expensive: Apx $3.50 for 32oz. of ACV at a local natural/organic store. With my second bottle I bought the more expensive vinegar. There was no difference, so I am sticking with the less pricey one! If I stop drinking it, the inflamation returns. When I am unable to drink the mixture ie: traveling, etc., I take (500mg.) ACV caps. Seems to help maintain what the liquid has accomplished. I told my sister about it and she has also experienced good results, the inflamation in her wrist has reduced. (She mixes it with spicy tomato juice) Neither one of us use the honey, which would add to the price and calories! May not work for all, but worked for us... good luck

Just be careful with that. Studies show that consuming apple cider vinegar each day may damage the esophagus and other parts of the digestive tract. And it may damage tooth enamel if sipped. One case study reported a link between excessive apple cider vinegar consumption with low blood potassium levels (hypokalemia) and low bone mineral density. So, if you already have osteoporosis this could be very detrimental.

@ Ben on Aug., 29th 2011 Something non-pharmaceutical you could try for anxiety is to make a note of each time you start feeling anxious and what you're doing or thinking about and/or eaten just recently. See if there's a correlation each time it happens. Most importantly, anxiety FEELS terrible but keep reminding yourself that it cannot, in reality, hurt you. You can break the pattern of anxiety by giving it less and less power over you. Yes, I've done it and haven't had an anxiety/panic attack in over 8 years when I used to get them that lasted for more than a full day.

You can google and read about the symptoms. He will start with a blood test and if that points to the area of celiac, a biopsy will confirm if you have this autoimmune disease. good luck Karl E

I am a registered nurse, skeptic by nature, hater of MLM 'schemes', and was determined to expose the nopalea 'claims' of miraculous effects. I am not a trivita member, do not participate in the marketing of the company and block the trivita mailings. However, I must say that I have purchased the Nopalea juice and used it, as has my husband, and found it to have dramatic effects. It took about a week before I realized that the aches and pains, that I generally ignore and 'power through', were gone. I have TMJ and could barely chew and now I have no pain and can actually open my mouth at the dentist. I have increased the foods that contain betalains, antioxidants, but didn't do it until I had taken the 'juice' for 2 month, so it was clearly the nopalea. I was taking large amounts of ibuprofen and haven't taken any in > 4months. I usually take great pleasure in debunking this nonsense, but this time I can't. The nopalea works, but I will NOT do the marketing thing, it's a shame the general public can't walk into a grocery store and buy this stuff for a reasonable price. I want to share it with people, but don't want to promote the MLM nonsense. And, I promise you that I have NOT been paid by anyone for my 'miraculous testimony'!

I have been reading alot of comments above. There is a lady that stated that she is experiencing numbness in the the tips of fingers: it might not be a side effect of the juice. It could however be the start of nueropathy. This is how it started with me too. Felt numbness in the tips of my toes; and now it has spread almost to my knees; and now have it in my hands. it does nerve damage that i was told is irreversable; and can become extremely painful. I have tried alot; and have not tried this product; as I cannot afford it. But I am going to try to eat the foods more that are listed in this article to see about getting some inflammation under control. Will come back at a later date and let everyone know how it is working.

I heard something on a Nopalea infomercial that raises doubts. Their salesman said that the nopal cactus grows in the Sonoran Desert, "the harshest environment on the planet"!! Really?! Look at the Sahara-endless miles of bare sand, nothing growing. Or the desert in Chile, where it hasn't rained for something like 400 years. Or Antarctica, where it has reached 126 deg. below zero and nothing grows. Or Death Valley, where it has reached 134 deg. Or the brutally cold expanse of northern Siberia. By contrast, the Sonoran Desert is bristling with plant and animal life-trees cactus, bushes, mammals, reptiles, birds, etc. If the Sonoran Desert were that harsh, how could TriVita find enough prickly pear tunas (fruit) to supply everybody with their juice?? It makes a person wonder.......

They are PAID to write blogs and make you think this stuff works great. If this stuff was this good, it would be sold everywhere and not by some MIDNIGHT MARKETING COMPANY. By the way....these company's purposely market their products in the middle of the night because they know people with aches, pains, etc., aren't sleeping and are most likely up watching television. After reading all the comments about Nopalea I can see where it is doing a lot of good for many people in pain. I have witnessed Nopalea with not only myself but my mother & brother. My mother has had cancer & had a stem cell transplant 9 months ago. Between the cancer, chemo & transplant she has painful side effects not to mention a lack of energy. After a week on Nopalea her pain is almost completely gone. She has more energy then she has had in 4 years. My brother has had terrible back pain for many years & he has seen a huge improvement. I hated getting out of bed in the morning due to pain & stiffness all over and within a couple of weeks I have seen a big change and I haven't had to take any meds for the pain! I will shout about Nopalea from the roof tops! I believe that people who think this product is a waste of money or a scam either have not tried Nopalea or tried it believing that it is just another miracle that someone is selling. If you try anything with a negitive attitude you will always get negitive results. I am not selling this product, only wanting to share it with anyone wanting quality of life!

I have taken Nopalea and Adaptogen for years and I am totally satisfied with both. Sleep is easy now on a better schedule and joint pain is gone. It is expensive but since I have been taking for years I cut back on dosage amount. Trivita surely works for me. When I see people in pain I make a suggestion that they try it but since it is MLM I don't push it too hard. Anyone who listens benefits!

Looks like on ebay that stuff goes for like $30 something for 32 oz. Pricey. Want to feel better? Buy a juicer or a blender and keep the ingredients rather random and various. I always put some wheatgrass powder in, spinach powder in,etc.. and take pills for garlic as I detest the taste of it. Those are the only supplements you need to be taking for foods you don't or won't eat. The fruits may be a good source but think of all the other things you could buy with that! Kilo's of stevia, 32oz bottles of flax, emu (well its the upper crust of price among oils but considering the source its justified) ,olive oils. Also instead of taking aspirin I take white willow bark. It is the exact same thing except cheaper and it don't lead to ulcers - I have loads of stomach problems and its one of the best things I chose to do.

Aloha Gina, I have also had RSD very bad a few years ago and hyperbaric oxygen really helped me! I am back on my feet again and have residual pain but at least I am doing sooo much better. I did 40 hrs which is the minimum you need for red and was able to get pain relief that I didn't expect. I am off any medications now and am just starting to try nopalea and I had my first night of full sleep in years and I have only drank 6 oz so far yesterday. That was great for me! I hope you try hyperbaric even though it seems expensive, it is worth it cause everyone I saw with rsd who tried it got major relief or way better! Including me! Trying nopalea cannot hurt as there is a 100% money back guarantee from my understanding...hope this helps...also my very large pinky fingerthat had arthritis is already shrunk in size and pain overnight!

I have a disease called RSD/CRPS Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy/Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. Because of this disease, I now have RA, Hypothyroid, scleroderma, which is in my small intestine and esophagus. Because of the RSD/CRPS I am not absorbing nutrients. I have lost a lot of weight. I am 5'2 1/2 and weight 91 -92 and have had a feeding tube placed in my abdomen which helps to keep my weight steady. My question is will Nopalea make me lose more weight or will it help me to stay balanced and/or even gain? My husband and I would like me to try it but at that price it would cost too much if it didn't work. I would have to keep paying for my meds on top of it. Right now I pay over $200 for pain management meds and the meds for the RA and Hypothyroid. My husband is unemployed currently and I am on disability. So we are in favor of saving money if this really could help me, we would be saving.

It is too bad that some people didn't get relief from nopalea however it is not a scam. My husband has suffered with AS a very painful type of arthritis for over 30 years. In just 1 week of taking nopalea he has noticed a considerable difference. He sleeps much more sound and a lot of his pain and stiffness has subsided. I don't work for the company or sell this stuff. I would hate to see someone who is in pain not try it because it might not have worked for someone else. I am so happy for my husband. It is nice to see him feeling better.

I am a 68 year old male with cronic ankle pain. I have had 5 major suregeries on my right ankle over a ten year period in the 90's and early 2000's. I spent 2 years in a pain program at a local hospital in Duluth, Minnesota. I have been taking 3, 40 MG oxycontin tabs. per day for about 15 years. A week ago I developed Gout in the other foot. My Doctor put me on a 5 day set of steroids starting with 5 per day and regressing down to 1 tablet and then none. The second day the steroids removed all the arthritic pain I had been having. It was great! After the steroid adventure, I am back to constant pain in my joints (knees, ankles ETC.). Would the Nopalea help my inflamation? Thanks

Say what you want Health Hound but I've been drinking the juice for about 4 months and me and my doctor are elated at how it's gotten my cholesterol down to a safe level (something we've been trying to do for 5 or 6 years). My total cholesterol dropped from 204 to 185, my bad cholesterol dropped from 129 to 111, and my good cholesterol is not a problem. My doctor said maybe she should order some (lol).

Have been using Nopalea almost a month now and may see a slight improvement in some pain, however, am now experiencing numbness in the tips of two of my fingers on each hand. Have you ever heard of this as a side effect of Nopalea. I have been assuming my neck needed an adjustment but actually did have it adjusted and still have the numbness. The Nopalea is the only new/different thing I can think of I've had going in the last month.

I have been taking a daily dose of 4 oz. of Nopalea since Jan. 16, 2011. I almost immediately felt the relief of lower lumbar pain, in addition to relief of shoulder and foot pain. I almost didn't realize that my stiff oints had also diminished until later that week when I got up from every break and lunch to my amazement....I did not have to slowly pry my body from the chair and walk hunch back for the first few steps.... such a totally awesome experience for me. You will never know if it works for your body type until you try it and with the money back guaranntee...you have nothing to loose. I just wish that I had purchased the 4 pack because now I am 2 weeks into feeling great and now I have run out of product. It would be great if there was a price reduction, but if not....I will pay the price for NO aches and pains anyday!!!!

As with anything that is going to help you feel better, you need to get it into your system. Nopalea is no different. As for it being a "Cure", You won't find a TriVita affiliate that makes that claim. It is simply a help aid in reducing inflammation and pain caused by inflammation. I suspect if you haven't had results from it, it is because you have either not tried it, or used it long enough to get it into your system. I have seen Nopalea work in many different people, at many different rates. Some have seen results in as few as two or three days, others have taken as long as two or three months. I suggest that before writing a report saying it is no good, you should at least give it an honest try. There is a sixty day money back guarantee, so if it doesn't help, you can get your money back....what do you have to lose? Except maybe a little pain and inflammation!

Nopalea has helped me greatly for my fibromyalgia, arthritis, post-fractures/injuries and degenerative back disease. After I used the juice for 3 weeks, my adult daughter, who did not know I was using Nopalea, told me it was nice to see me up and about and more active! My maintenance dose is 3 ounces, making a bottle last 10 days. That's about $3/day, less than a fancy coffee or other choice you might make. I've cut way back on pain relievers. I'm worth what it takes to be well. Buy when on sale. I've NEVER been pressured to market the products.

I'm absolutely certain Nopalea is a super fruit and greater than anything I've experience as far as measurable results. The price is a problem. My swollen ankles improved with a change of diet to minimize sugar, salt, and fat along with taking Nopalea. I had to cut back on dosage because of price. I believe they need to do something about price. It's twice as high as I feel it should be. However, it's a bona fide healer! I had an abscess about butter bean size and within 2 weeks of taking double the max dose of 6 oz. per day to 12 oz., it reduced to half it's size. After a month it went down to pea size. 2 months and it is virtually gone. I reduced dosage to 6 oz per day the second month.

I have been using this drink for about a year ongoing. I have an ankle that has extreme inflamation at times. I thought that the pain and inflamation was better since I started to drink it but wasn't totally convinced because of the climate I live in, Washington state. Well several months ago I missed a bottle because of the packaging of it and was without it for several weeks. Well as soon as I got it I began doubling the dose for the 3 weeks I was off of it and then down to my regular dose and I was really better the pain decreased as well as the swelling so I have no doubt that this product works for me.

My oppinion. Nopalea works just as effective as my Vitamin water. So will it be as effective as red & yellow beets, Swiss chard, rhubarb, cactus fruits, spinach, amaranth or quinoa. People don't want to believe they're being ripped off until it's put all over the news. You want to waste money? Use Nopalea. You want to save money? Use the correct servings of the vegetables and fruits listed above. Same effect. Try it. Nopalea is a waste of money.

Nopalea's surprisingly sweet taste has been popular, though some customers dilute it with water and a twist of lemon, and even put it in smoothies. Yet, TriVita listens to the field, and has changed the formula a bit so that the sweetness is tempered. On top of that, the flavor of one batch could be different from the next due to the nature of the harvest and weather conditions of a particular season. I've been using Nopalea since it was released and have been very satisfied. It reduced my pain to the point where I can sleep the night through without pain pills! That's a huge plus.

Desert Bloom in Plano TX is selling pure nopal extract, no sugar, no additives. Plus, the real benefits are in the leaf pads, not just the prickly pear fruit. Results have been rather dramatic, especially for reversing effects of diabetes. Tulane Univ did a study on this. Might be worth checking into.

I have been using TriVita products for about 9 yrs., have been very happy with the company and have recommended their products to lots of friends & associates. I was VERY skeptical when they launched Nopalea... Oh no not another Juice... just what we need...NOT! Then I started to hear from my friends about their experience with the juice... Cholesterol from 380 to 180, Uric Acid from 11.1 to 5.2, Decreased Blood Pressure, Chronic pain & gout gone, Frozen shoulder moving, Walking without cane.... So I tried the Juice...I am 60 yrs old, very active.. there were some subtle improvements in chronic shoulder pain, but nothing earth shattering. So my conclusion is, the juice does work for certain body types, but not for all. Some of my friends noticed no difference. Sure it is expensive, but so is Zocor and all the other drugs people are taking that have huge side effects. TriVita has always honored their 60 day, empty bottle, money back guarantee, so I see no reason to not try the product and see if it work for you.

For 6 months I suffered with a painful wrist injury that would not heal. I went to the doctor to see if it was a crack or break in my bone which it was not. After 6 months of using 3 different splints, taking pain killers, and favoring the wrist in my activities I was no better off than in the beginning. Then I saw information on Nopalea from a Tri-Vita Ad. I had purchased other products from this company before (with no issues or pressure) and thought it would be worth a try. They were never rude or pushy to me. This is no joke: In three weeks from starting their "loading phase" my wrist was completely well. There was no more pain and I did not need the brace. I did nothing different. There is nothing else I can attribute the healing to. I also noticed that my watch was loose indicating my wrist was smaller, and a chronic pain in my hip was significantly better. I am continuing to take the Nopalea in smaller doses and I am telling everyone what it did for me! I've never had anything work like this did! I've bought product from Tri Vita several times over about 8 years and have always received courteous service. It is expensive, but as someone else said, if it works it is sure cheaper than the medical bills! I don't think it's a scam - I think you just need to try it to see if it works for you.

But I know it is toxic on her kidneys, liver ect. She had many areas on her body that were extremely itchy, bleeding. She was miserable. She has been on Nopalea only for 16 days now and most of it has cleared up. And she likes taking it. No chewing tablets or cream that stings her skin. I started taking it for psoriasis 16 days ago as well. I have 2 large areas on my knees and its about 3/4 gone. And the itching has significantly reduced. We will definitely keep taking it!!

I do believe TriVita is a reputable company. I have been using their Sublingual B-12, B-6 & Folic acid for sevaral months and am very pleased with results -- increased energy and mood booster. I tried Nopalea when I had been experiencing elbow inflammation for almost a year. However, I couldn't get beyond the sickeningly sweet taste. TriVita refunded my shipping with no questions asked, and I have no qualms with continuing to deal with this company. (Xango, also an inflammation reducer, did not work either -- but tasted much better!) Soon after I returned the Nopalea, my condition went away on its own Hooray!

I just received some BS voice-mail on my cell phone from Trivita. I had no idea who they are- so I looked that telemarketing Co. up. The message went on about my credit card had stopped payment for them. WTH?? Not only had I never heard of their "snake oil product", I surely would never order anything so ridiculously priced!! I can't believe that crap sells for $49.00 per bottle!! I bet they also charge another outrageous price for S&H. Another writer here replied how she received her "free" bottle without any hard sales come ons- she ONLY paid $10. S&H. In my opinion- $10.00 is more than enough cost to pay for their "snake oil" and S&H. I wouldn't call that FREE. Anyway, for the fools who are about to be fooled by buying that outrageously priced cactus juice- buyer beware. They are the types that keep telemarketers, scammers, con artists, and that kind- in business. They probably fall for the Readers Digest "Sweepstakes", Pyramid scams, etc... Nopalea works for me even though it won't work for everyone -nothing works for everyone .This would be the reason for the 60 day trial period and the money back guarantee of satisfaction

I started it about 4 weeks ago. A friend told us about it. I was supossed to have surgery on my knee. It was hurting so bad walking was hard and sleeping was painful. Aspirin didn't help, heat didn't help. So when I went for my pre-op physical, I discovered I was anemic. No surgery until the levels are up. So I started the juice. In 4 days my knee wasn't sore. I could walk freely again and I could sleep with out pain. This is the truth. I never thought that some juice would or could do that, but it sure has. Maybe it won't work for everyone, but it sure does for me.

I just ordered this product. The commercial states it helps with imflammation pain. I do believe that this is the type pain I live with in my neck and spine. I am giving it a try as nothing else has helped me. I'm wondering if the positive feedback are people with true imflammation pain and the others (which had no result) has other pain not associated with imflammation. I'm just trying to justify the pro and con comments. How will we know:/

I tried cactus and it did do wonders for inflamation. However I did not purchase online expensive juice. I purchased the pill form I found in the spanish section of a local K-mart at a price of 3.99. Product has been around for years in the spanish community and widely sold. Don't be fooled by the mlm expensive products. Try alternatives. Obviously, once someone in america discovers products in other areas of world they exploit them and the price.

RH do you have a product name or is it simply "catus"? You wrote you purchased it at KMart in the Spanish section for $3.99.

I don't know about what you refer to as a multi-marketing set up and the nopal catcus product. Personally though without taking a capsule form for this herb when I had IBS-I could still be messing around with it today for all I know. Being in major pain and with prescriptions not cutting down the pain I think I went thru at least a dozen nutracuetical products and one of those happened to be the nopal cactus. If I forgot to take it for a couple of days, I got a quick reminder as the abdominal/bowel pain returned. You never know what will work for someone else.

Nopalea does not work. It did absolutely nothing for me. All of the positive reviews on sites are strikingly similar, and many of them are written from the same computer using false names. Do not waste your time or money!

I took the nopalyea for over 4 months and saw absolutely no change in the pain in my shoulder or neck. I am in the process of trying to cancel any future orders at this time. Further more, after several months, when I would drink the one once my stomach would get upset and agitated and would not settle down for more than an hour. I think this is a scam, but I have no way to prove it other than my own results which was negative.

Henry- I was under the impression that the 900 grams is PER BOTTLE, not per serving... That's why it's listed underneath the per serving specs in its own section. Regardless of the biz opp attached, TriVita doesn't force folks to join the business... It's an option available to those that wish to take it. Personally, I don't feel so much like it's "selling" as it is "sharing". If a product works for us we're in the habit of telling family and friends. I personally think it's kind of nice to get a reward for doing so and cutting the cost on my own products.

I took the Nopalea challenge. Yes, it was expensive, but it actually works. I have chronic knee pain (bursitis?). When I take the Nopalea supplement, the pain subsides. The only problem is that the pain returns the next day and I have to keep on taking the supplement to get relief every day. It can turn out to be very expensive at $39 per bottle that lasts only a few days. I was taking 4 to 6 oz per day. If you have a better solution for me I would love to hear it. I was also taking Omega XL (not at the same time). That didn't give me the relief I got from Nopalea.

I just watched the infomercial and I am a bit skeptical about getting this product because it went from trying this product to selling it in a matter of 15 minutes. I think I will stick to drinking V-8 and exercising and eating right.

I'm 49 and have been experiencing chronic knee pain for over 4 months now. At it's peak, I had to use my father's cane and walker just to get out of a chair or bed. After an MRI that showed osteoarthritis, low-grade sprain, inflammation, misplaced patella (knee cap), and 3 other problems I can't remember off hand, I went to physical therapy for 5 weeks. Although therapy helped a great deal with the sit-to-stand movements, a lot of the pain never went away. This chronic pain prevented me from getting a full night's sleep. During the time I was going to physical therapy, I had extensive bloodwork done to see if there was something else going on. My C-reactive protein level (shows inflammation in the body) came back saying that I was at high-risk for heart attack, stroke, and peripheral artery disease. A level-headed friend had been giving me personal family testimonials about this this drink. I decided to try Nopalea. (I call it "voodoo juice" since I'm very skeptical of these kinds of claims.). After drinking 4 ounces every day for a week now, my knee pain has diminished DRASTICALLY. (The only other variable I can think of that would have affected the pain level is that I stopped going to physical therapy during this time. I often wondered if some of the exercises were irritating the sprain that the MRI showed.) Although the pain has not disappeared completely, I am able to sleep through the night. I spoke to my dr. who agreed to wait to rerun my blood tests until I've been drinking Nopalea for 2 months. I'm VERY anxious to see if my C-reactive protein level comes down. If it does, I plan on continuing a 1-ounce dosage of this "voodoo juice" for a while. It is expensive, but better for you (and cheaper) than taking prescription drugs. THANK YOU for putting this website together. I am very interested to hear the cons on products that claim so much.

BC raises some good points, especially the C-reactive reading before and after two months trial of Nopalea. I've taken Nopalea for two months now and have ordered another two month supply since it seems to help my sciatic inflammation, albeit, has not eliminated it completely. I will do the same comparison of blood results to see if this product if really beneficial for my arthritis condition. Thanks for the postings as they are very beneficial.

Well, I don't believe in the miracle of the "voodoo juice", and to me the only thing we can do to get over the problem is doing exercise every day and very serious in doing exercise. I was 42 year old when I got my back pain, the problem is that my back so pain that I could not walk or stand or even sit down, it was so hurt that all member of my family told me to visit doctors. I did visit a doctor at Viginia Mason in Seattle and spent few months visiting the hospital without successful. My back still hurt and I could not walk or stand or even sit down, and after that I got MRI too, but the problem still the same, at the end my doctor told me to get surgery, but I refused to do so because I did not believe in hospital any more. I was at the end of my robe like a dead man, and one day when I was sitting on a exercise bicycle and wished if I could press the pedal of the exercise machine few circles, I then tried to do so, and day by day I increased the time as well as speed of pressing the pedals of the machine, after few months I felt better and got more confident in myself. I then went to a gym for 3 years and during that time I had been doing exercise very seriously until now. Right now I can walk for the whole day, I can run and have good running, I even can lift heavy things and do the hard works, remember that before leaving the hospital my doctor told me that:" go home and and don't do anything, don't lift.....". I am now 52 and consider myself as a healthy man.

MY KNEE PAIN IS GONE AND ENERGY INCREASED. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I AM VERY IMPRESSED EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT NEED NOR WANT TO SELL IT TO OTHERS.

I was hoping it was truly a miracle drink. how sad it is to build up a person's hopes when they are in a vulnerable state. I did have my doubts when the infomercial went from buying to selling. It now sounds like a bottle of "Snake Oil".

Thank you for your research. This whole mess of mirile drug started when Captain Kirk was given a super dose of vitimine C inorder to defea the gods on some planet. Ms. Senter's the best one can do is juice veggies on a consistent basis coupled with excercise. We have soooo many toxins in our systems and daily lives to deal with. Be 900 or 9,000,000 grams it is really irrelevant. Indeed, this is another MLM just like the Noni drink. Invest in a juicer, excercise and eat reasonably

I've been taking the Nopalea for about six weeks. I looked at the label and it does say 907.15g per ounce! That's a pretty big typo! Have they responded to your inquiry? I really want to know. Even if it is a typo, it is significant enough to completely undermine their credibility. Please get back to me on this. map

Connie..i just got a letter from my sister-in-law who has been taking Nopolea since August of this year and she has seen so much healing . Her psoriasis is gone, her arthiritis no longer bothers her and she has no more knee and neck pain and her breathing is so much clearer and her energy level is "soaring" to quote her words. This is quite remearkable because she is one who has tried every new thing that comes available with little change. I believe that the product works to reduce any chronic inflammation and the best thing anyone can do is find something that works for them. Of course our body heals and remains healthy through a combination of diet, exercise, the way we cope with stress, and even proper alignment. I think that this product is beneficial for those who need something that will get them to a place of "feeling well enough again" to move onto include some good lifestyle habits. Its nice to see results when you have dealt with sickness for so long..it's not some quick fix but it may just be the boost you need to get you started...and it's easy to take with a great taste. I think it's worth the investment.

Thanks for the comments....only positive one I saw. I started using Nopalea about two weeks ago (I have inflammation due to arthritis of neck and lumbar, and knees), and I feel more energized already, and the inflammation pain seems to have subsided a lot. Too early to tell if it's really beneficial, and it's not cheap. So, I'll use up my five bottles (one free), and may accept another shipment of four bottles if I think the 30 days test trial has been beneficial. But like anyone, I'm skeptical of TV ads of "miracle drinks" although I'm giving this one a try. Gullible perhaps, but when you have inflammation pain most of the time, anything with promise is worth a try. Thanks again for your comments.

I want to report a scam for the nopalea advertisement on tv. I called to get my free bottle with just paying for the shippment fee and it was a scam. the male person that answer would not take the order unless I purchase 4 bottles. I told him that they were false advertizing the product and was told if I did not like it to hang up.

I have been taking Nopalea for a year.I had inflammation in my shoulders from repetitive stress due to my work.I had 2 cortisone shots because I got frozen shoulder.I didn't want to continue needing cortisone so I started Nopalea because a friends mom and dad have been with the company for 10 years. It took about 3 weeks for my shoulder pain to almost completely go away.In the meantime I hadn't really thought about it but I had just started getting hot flashes due to the onset of menopause.I had hot flashes for about 2 months and then they just went away.I just had a hysterectomy 6 weeks ago with my ovaries out and I feel great. My doctor wanted to start me on hormones for 6 months but I'm not going to need that.I feel totally normal.I will pay the price because I know it worked for me.You have to give something a fair chance to work and maybe it doesn't work for everyone but hey you can go to the doctor,be presvribed something and it may not work for everyone.I say there is no harm in trying as you are given 60 days to try it and a full refund if it doesn't work.I'm worth it.
